Hey guys! Heh heh, don't worry, I'm working on Part 3, but I had and idea and wanted to bounce it off my fellow writers. :)

Anyone ever write a 'round robin' story? I suppose it's fairly close to RPG, but the only difference is that we set what characters are in the story in advance, and go from there. Basically, someone will start it, stop at a cliffhanger (or wherever) and then leave it for someone else to pick up. Generally, a round robin story is humorous, but it does depend on the authors involved, hee hee.

Since the message boards are public, it would probably be easier to exchange the story from person to person over email, so two people don't write and try to post the same continuation at once. :)

Well, I just wanted to know if any of you would be interested...I think it'd be fun to write a story with some of you! Let me know what you think...either via post or email.

Hee hee, very true!
How about all NPC's are game (fallout2 fine?) and we have one PC...maybe some guy...Drifter is a nice ambiguos name.

The story would start with Drifter doing some task, and then we could go from there. It's hard to nail down what to do without knowing what everyone else is OK with. :)

Basically, someone could write an opening scene (I would, if it would help) and then the next person in line would continue it. Very simple, really, but lots of fun!

Hell, I don't care about what it's about, I'm always in for a challenge, the problem, is that whomever might be involved, might be kind of busy, and therefore his section would be late

Ah, very good point.

Well I was thinking we could have a list of those participating, and each person has a week to crank out their part before it's passed to the next person...that might work...heh hehe, i'm open to suggestions!

You said that seen as the board is public we shouldn't do it here but...

A) There wouldn't be enough people to actually interfere or anything.

B) We could say anyone is allowed to read it but only a designated to group to write in it. Wit hthe permission of the guy in charge round here. The first poster. IE the person who came up with the idea would also post a list of the order we post in.

I for one think it's a great idea although it does sound a bit like roleplay. But then again it wouldn't be because we wouldn't just control "Our" character we would control everything. Could be kinda interesting i'd be willing to try.

too many rules...look, i`ve done it hundreds of times, it´s great fun, if you do it in a humourous way, someone writes a paragraph, then someone else comes and kills the characters in a totally stupid way, someone else leaves the story in a high drama mood, and then the next guy puts the characters dancing and talking about the relation between the sopranos and new reno, or the food in the cafeteria and brahmin goo ...
if you keep it free for all and with a great sense of humour it`s going to be a blast (hmmm, of couse since i`m not going to post there, because of my lack of english skills, you can always ignore my humble opinion, but still, it would be a shame if things were too strict...)

Hmmm.... Call it God Playing, much like a group of game masters brainstorming while on crack :P
I'm in, but I would like to be at least the third person, so that I can get a feel for exactly what to do.

Yeah, it sounds like a good idea, I'd like to try it. There could be problems, but maybe we should just see how it goes.
 
Hello all, this was of course, Slinky's idea, but I wanted to find out who all is interested. Slinky and I discussed a bit about the round robin, and it looks like it will happen, so, I wanted to know, who wants to be in on this. If you wanna join in, just post a message under this thread saying so, this way, we all can know just how many people are going to work on this.

Well to start we've got us and Smaug in on it. Of course Slinky can start it as it was his idea. Although it would be nice to put us in an order. Imagene if one person wants to reply (Like me) They prepare a short thing in word and then find someone else has posted a really short part. and all their time was for nothing because they can't post it ansd it makes no sense on it's own

Yeah, i'm in.
And I think some kind of order should be in place, but, it's inevitable that sometimes some people wouldn't get time to post if it's their turn. So, if, for ANY reason you don't think you could post next time, SAY SO.

Or, we could have like a time limit for the person to post, and if they don't, the next person does.

What d'ya think?
 
Yeah i agree. Establish the list in the first post though and let's get this thing started
 
Well, to avoid it becoming a slow moving process, I'd say we should have a tighter schedule. This will not likely be a very serious work, so the longer it takes, the less interesting it might become.

Heh heh, sounds like you guys are more organized than I am! :) I'll start writing the first part while you hash out the details....and btw, I'm a girl ;)

It's called "Role playing" in the "Entertainment" group.

Is this what you had in mind or something else?

It's quite diffrent actually. i wold know because if you lok over on Roleplay my name is in about every other post (or maybe more!) This is a collection of people telling a story. Not a collection of people playing one and only one character. If you were to compare it to a roleplay post i think you'd have to say it belongs on this forum more than the roleplay.

The big difference between an RPG and this, is that with an RPG, you create a character, and create him/her. With this, we all play every character, it's a big difference when you actually read the round robin.
