Wasteland vehicle

big foots aren't 50's retro, even using the looks of the retro car. doesn't suit Fallout at all.

it's probably stuff like that you'll see in Auto-assault or however that game is called.

nicely drawn though.

Looks a little like a car we're modifying for a short movie I'm making. I wanted to make something Mad Max ish, but instead we're taking a beat up toyota 4 runner and taking the doors and cap off the back. Also driving it through a dusty ditch to make it look that much dirtier.

Although not Fallouty, I actually think your little creation would be more fitting to a post nuke enviornment, considering you'd have to have a vehicle that could get around the lack of roads and get through sand. Nothing that's 2 wheel drive and doesn't have a foot or more ground clearance does well in sand.

Hey, I was out of the city and thus away from keybord for a week... Thank you gyus for your answers. Now I'm beginning to understand the idea of a genuine fallout car. Although a bigfoot would perfectly suit the wasteland (just as InTheOnlineAsbestosSuit said), hadn't it been

Strange to hear that

, 'cause bigfoot tyres are thicker than usual ones. Unless you mean cases involving drive-by like in Mad Max (At last! I've seen it last week!!), when a tyre is a desirable target.

It was not planned as a car for showing-off only.

Thanks again!

No shit, they'd be targets?
A tyre, regardless of thickness of rubber, would be fairly easily penetrated by bullets or fire (petrol bombs), or even an explosive or a heavy penetrating stabbing weapon, such as a spear or polearm. This could be modified somewhat with armour (internal and/or external) but not nullified entirely.

Yes, fine for sand, not fine for attacks, rough terrain (including broken buildings, vehicles and possibly mines).

The small benfit it would get when driving across a sandy desert (which is somewhat unlikely anmyway in most parts of the worlds) would be removed by the repair and refuel problems.

meh, I've tried sticking stuff through old dumper wheels, not very easy, a crossbow fired at close range maybe, but no way anyone could stick a polearm or spear through them, they're high quality rubber reinforced with varius tingle-tangle. And quite often, monster truck wheels are old(or new for that matter) tracktor or dumper wheels...
but you're right on yer other points though...

ah, who cares, cool drawing, cool car :D

Note my use of the phrase "fairly easily", I'm not saying it would pop like a balloon, just that they are vulnerable somewhat. I've never tried on Monster Truck tyres, but I remember, when I was ten or so, attacking a dumped tractor tyre with a metal pole (the sharpened ones with a loop at the other end that they sometimes tie police tape around) and peircing it several times.

Another thing: rubber deteriorates with age and certain adverse conditions, such as (I believe) extreme heat and dryness. The tyres, and the spares available, would not be in too great condition.

ah, well, use a hummer instead, it'll run for miles after the tires are destroyed :D
