Flamescreen sent us four graphics for a Civ3 mod he is making, comments are encouraged.<center>

Honestly, I like what the starting screen looks like, some hazy and rusty Fallout colours there, for a change.

Looks like its time to dust off my old civ3 disk.
Would we need any of the expansion pack to play it?

Looks quite interesting. Some of the UI stuff though looks a bit too copy/paste of the FO graphics - personally I think they should do their own tailor made graphics, but try and keep it in the same style as far as they possibly can. Currently it looks just a tad too hacked together for my liking.

The ingame stuff though looks fine (nice and clear) from what I can see, though I would really need to see quite a bit more to give true thoughts on it. But anyway, onto the important things - will you be able to build healing toilets? :)

Well, we've been dusting off our Civ 3 disks for Thorgrimm's mod for years now...

lol, i looked at the first picture and thought it was a fallout3 fake picture, especially firearms diplomacy (still lying on the floor laughing).

Shame on me.

Looks fine so far, allthought I quit playing Civ after the 2nd part which was great

Looks good, but really, really needs a spellchecker.

Also, the coloration of the start up screen should be revised, the yellow makes my eyes bleed.

Another civ3 fallout mod :

How many are they ?

Lets just say at one time Flamescreen was part of my team and he had a falling out with a simple-minded poster and quit. Was saddened really, since he was a valuable member of the team.

And Sorrow, As far as I can tell, I only use one RL weapon in my mod, the hummer has been removed in the latest version, so care to revise your statement? I have been practically begging the Fallout Community here for input, but you all have decided to not input any opinions so I have to do what I think is correct. :D

And if you can make a model of the T-51-B PA with a Fallout weapon, I will be more than happy to replace the PA that uses the m-60 LMG. Hell, I have models of the Advanced PA, Deathclaw Geckos and other FO critters I can't get turned into working units, even though I wish that I could so I can use them.

Cheers, Thorgrimm

Yeah, I swear I have seen this Flamescreen guy on the mod's forums once, don't remember much about him, through. In fact, I suspect he is from even before I was invited by Thor to join the testers. But I DO remember him from somewhere. Maybe while reading things on the TWTG forum.

Anyway, Fallout is pretty big game. I wonder how much time until someone decides to create a Civ 4 mod for Fallout. Civ 4 have a almost-endless potential for modding.

Cool :D . Which doesn't change, that "fallouty" mods with modern RL weapons happen more often than ones that are true to the original.
The description under one of the screens here says:
These are some of the Fallouty weapons I'm using for Wasteworld purposes.
Where "fallouty" weapons are almost only modern RL weapons XD .

Heh, so it was some kind vicious circle XD .

Sadly, I don't have any models. I even have trouble with getting myself to learn 3d modelling for weapon sprites for my own mod XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.

Oh :( . So, basically, only FT animations can be converted to Civ3 ones :( ?

Well, thanks to all for the feedback so far.
The screens, are to the best of my ability, close to what Fallout would be(as I see it) within the limitations of Civ 3. It can't replace Fallout and I cannot create entirely new graphios, but rather displaying that you can do things with what's already there.

Also, these are the final for their part, so that's why I'm releasing them, there are other elements i can't release still, cause they're not final. These coming days I'm sending the pre-alpha to selected people for suggestions and as soon as I'll be solid on more things to come, expect more stuff. It's not exactly an easy process, since I'm not overtly talented.

For a free mod, that's manned by one(myself), don't expect overtly much(as in all new graphics). I can do adaptations mostly. Besides, for re-working the graphics too much, I'd need the source code and a solid programming ability that I don't have.

You shouldn't mind the spelling much, cause I have a spellchecker but there are things that must stay as they are in order to fit in the interface(like Vault Comwealth). There are way too many limitations and hard coded things in that game, but I don't like at all Civ 4 to mod that(though I have it).

The weapons, that's a problem, since I'm only using FO 1 and 2 weapons for the most part. FO 2 did have real life weapons, but I can't use a huge amount of custom made weapons. There are always people that will argue, those are unfallouty too. I do have displayed there a shotgun and a hunting pistol but the first is generic(and I don't know about the textures, basically if it looks used enough, i don't think someone can say what kind of shotgun it could be, I have 7 shotguns in all)the pistol is Senor Deluxe's which should know his Fallout, in any case I trust his abilities way too much and I like the design.

All others are pre-existing Fallout weapons(the magnum is untextured, as soon as I'll find a way to transfer the texture to poser properly, you'll notice the similarity).

If that's any consolidation I have other classical weapons I haven't displayed, like the Laser Rifle, shotguns,(and soon the 10mm range, plasma rifle), but it's with Fallout, I think the assault rifle was in FO 1 I have(which was Dragunov in everything but the name) that and Kalashnikov, but that's the thing with Fallout, if it's not too modern, I think it's ok. Everyone with an objection can suggest weaponry not modern, that think might blend with Fallout's world and if I'll find myself agreeing and it exists as a 3d model I'll probably get it.

There is a pre-existing Fallout mod that's probably closer to Fallout than mine, Thorgrimm's. Which is why I named mine Wasteworld(it's after FO 2 so as to not clash with the Initial Thorgrim's mod timeframe and cause I wanted to explore the future a bit). I think generally, Fallout can see many mods as long as they try their best to be dissimilar to each other.

I want mine to be completed till this years end. It's already been long enough. Then I'll see what i can do to help Thorgrimm with his(you shouldn't complain too much about the timeframe though, I understand his tries to be as close as possible to the originals and include everything, which is bound to take a lot of time). Btw, Thorgrimm's beta been out since the start of the year.

Anyway, the pre-alpha is closed to a few cause it has some problems I'm hoping to solve(like getting everything early on cause I'm not final on what should come after which invention, how the music fits if at all, etc) but I think after it an alpha or public beta is not too far away.

Darn it. Where'd I put my Civ 3 CD... and why doesn't anyone make such a mod for Civ 4 for lazy, scatterbrained people like me who lose old disks? :P

I was wondering, for those of you who liked the in game screens, appart from the obvious cut and paste--which, of course is the only way to do graphics if you're not a modeller, but I have to remind people that VB reused the prior graphics as well for the most part-- which is NOT an easy process(you have to be too precise cause Civ3 is smaller scale), which did you like best and do you think that the scheme should follow the original GAME SELECTION screen, or should it keep the normal scheme I'm having for the screens after that, cause I'm finalizing those too these days.

I thought people would prefer the scheme to be closer to Fallout(shades of grey) than the one I used(rusty), but it seems some like it rustier. If you'll notice it starts during 2256, but I was thinking, maybe organizations like the Vaults and BoS would be able to either partially fix their equipment or have some stored almost brand new in the Vault or their warehouses. It would be an interesting argument.

It depends I guess. Even in Fallout 1, the BoS was capable of designing and constructing new computers and weapons. Things like Power Armour on the other hand could only be made by salvaging parts from broken suits to create a complete one.

^Indeed, I'm talking about equipment that's not as sophisticated the PA was(which took the military machine of the US decades to perfect).
Like computers, which the interface would obviously consist of.

I'm slightly stung by Sorrow's comment on the weapons I presented.
So I'll try to come up with the complete list of the weapons I'm so far using and their counterparts, were they exist in FO RPG's(like I said, SOME of the Fallouty weapons, not all. Not that it matters on civ scale, but anyway).
