I think The following weapons should be in Fallout 3:

1. A sword. I can't believe they didn't have this in FO. It would be a great weapon for melee. Also different variations of swords (machete, broadsword, Samurai Sword)

2. I think there should be more projectile weapons. A crossbow, bow & arrow. The crossbow would have a set range but the bow & arrow's range would be something along the lines of 15+strength.

3. It would be neat if you could do stuff to the ammos. such as put Radscorpion poison on knifes arrows or darts(i'll get to the darts in a second). Maybe be able to sharpen arrows, knifes, swords to make them better. Basically, i want more upgrades to weapons (longer range, scope for more accuracy, barrel extensions for more bullets)

4. Darts would be really neat. Normally they wouldn't be that good but maybe you could put really powerful poison on them. You would throw them so maybe the range would be strength+5. Also you could throw farther with a better throwing skill. Maybe you could get a blowgun and then they would go farther.

If you have any more neat ideas just post them.

I don't think that would fit in. The katana was misplaced enough in FO2 anyway. This is harsh post-apocalyptic California, not Britannia.

Might be nice, but it wouldn't really fit in either. Could be good just for variety, and for tribal weapons.

Now this is a good idea. I'd also like being able to saw-off your own shotgun.

Another tribal weapon...

They were basically ideas for different tribal weapons. I have only played fallout 1 and didn't know that theres i a katana in FO2. But i was thinking that maybe some japanese people came to america in a boat after there area was bombed. Maybe they even turned into mutants. The broadsword you might be able to steal from a museum are something like that.

All thouse weapons are great (and if done by dwarfs and/or elves and then enchanted by powerfull magi, would be far better than guns and such), but not in fallout (mainly because fallout lacks dwarfs, elves and wizards).

As for poisons and such, well thats what the needle gun is for (imagine going throu the military base with a needle gun and a load of needle cartridges full of that antimutagenic serum).

I have to agree with the wanderer in that they do sound rather D&D but weapon upgrades is a personal favorite!!! I'd love to be able to run around vault city Shooting everyone in the back of the head with a silenced 9mm smg or pistol that would be fun (I hate vault city and love the challange of a masacre).

Apgradeble weapons are of course a must 'tis just that I am not sure if you should be able to apgrade them yourself.

Silent weapons , now that would be great idea.

As for vault city I personly like to let my companions at thouse worthles magots( except for, the first ***** lynet, barcus, and the slave master whom I like to kill (in very grusome ways) personly hehehe).

Why does everyone scream Dungeons and Dragons as soon as someone mentions swords or bows? After all, these items are still fairly common, and they were used for a long time before we got developed guns. In a post-apocalyptic environment where working guns and ammo are scarce, swords and bows (Well, swords and variations of swords, certainly) would be very common.

One reason is that ammunition is not that scarce.

Another that dumping all those weapons on the melee skill would be ridiculos (there is a great difrence between sword fighting and spear fighting etc...) while making an array of skills for those weapons just won't fit fallout.

It is also insulting for thouse of us who like D&D and such to see such great weapons infuriated.

And last - fallout has actually included most of the post apocaliptic melee weapons i.e, homefound weapons ,tribal crudly made weapons ,military melee weapons and futuaristic apgrades to most of thouse weapons, swords and bows just dont fit here.

How about this???

The bows your talking about aren't gonna be the magical powered wood shafted type I presume (the type from D&D), I guess they'de be like the ones we have today with metal arrows and carbon fibre shafts the professional hunting type bow (that would be cool). Now crossbows are also a good idea, still in use today but not the wooden type the new type (or maybe they could include the wooden type as an introduction to them like the piperifle in FO2, and then you get the better ones a bit later).

Alteriong your own weapons, how about a skill that reflects your weapons skill and one that reflects your level of competance when repairing/upgrading the weapon?!?!?!

Maybe swords but if anyone is looking at the screen shots for FOTactis:BOS then they will notice the clubs and things in there, much cruder weaponary than FO2.

You could probably club someone to death with and iguana on a stick, man!

A hightech crossbowlike weapon working on air combustion might be nice but thats it.

A club which could be used to knok out people if you succsesfuly hit them from behind would also be nice.

Weapon upgrading is a very good idea but it might be hard to balance it.
