Weather?

I havent played FOT but i didnt hear anything about weather and in fallout 1&2 it would be so great i mean your walking through the den or new reno when a thick cloud of fog just rolls in and cuts your visibility down to a 1/4 of what it was or the heavy rain that causes problems with your car. this wouldnt just open up a diffrent feel to the game but there could be many more perks too like:

WEATHER MAN- your experence with the harsh weather of the wastelands has taught you how to deal with its many forms.
Weather only affects you half to that of a normal person.

What would be the usefulness to this? Changes in weather would just add more useless doodads to the game and most players, rather than truly appreciate this "immerse" environment, would be quite annoyed if it cuts into game time. Me, for one.

It would add more to the setting than say...adding in more weapons, and clichéd pop-culture ones than a lightsaber and a phaser.

That is one of the better ideas for a Fallout 3.

Blistering heat and intense sunlight in the desert, thick fog by the coasts, maybe even tornadoes, if the game takes place in a setting that tornadoes could exist. This wouldn't be a useless doodad as Gunslinger suggested. I think this might be one feature that would attract fans and a new fanbase, as well as keeping the old fans happy. It wouldn't take away from the gameplay experience, it would add to the setting, as Roshambo, and add to the value of the game, and enrich the playing experience.

It would add to the immense replayability value that Fallout already has. Especially if the weather effects could be randomly generated (as in special encounters). Not to sound ungrateful, but it does get kind of boring seeing pure unimpeded scenery all the time, even underground.

The addition of weather effects also pertains to the lighting system. Maybe Fallout 3 could have different lighting systems/schemes, to make areas lighter and some darker, and create an overall immersive atmosphere. I don't know how well this could be implemented in a 3d isometric, and I would not dare sacrifice this Fallout feature for something not implemented, such as weather and lighting effects.

Daemon Spawn

just think about what daemon spawn and Zimyanin said the extra feel to the game of weather would be exelent i mean as you travel through the wastelands you would to expect to find some rough weather not just calm i mean the nukes surely should of or would of not just rewritten the maps but added some SOBs of chem storms or dust clouds. just think here is the US we already have some Mean stoms, tornados and hurricans among other things so wouldnt the nuking of amplified that??

Translation, please?

ha ha ha im my language mabey if you read a bit slower you may understand

Actually, tornadoes would probably be one of the bigger risks. I'd imagine that a good bit of geography was significanlty annihilated or at least rounded off in the war. And with less peaks and valleys to impeded their progress, tornadoes can just continuously rip over the land.

And let us not forget that most of the underground areas in Fallout are either open caves, or holes in the ground. Both of which have a tendency to flood. Which would bring about an entire new way of moving in fallout. Limitted swimming sound good to anyone? I don't think it should be 100% necessary to beat the game, but I think it would add more of a "Go anywhere, do anything" kind of feel to the game.

true!
but getting back to the suggestion if you notice in fallout 2 cassidy says about twisters out west which are huge or something like that, im not saying that you suddenly get a message saying
"You get sucked into a tornado and die..." all i was suggesting is that there would be the element of weather which would add a new feel to the game

>"You get sucked into a tornado
>and die..."

Oh god it hurts so bad.. I can't stop laughing.. that just sounds so funny... so simple and meaningful. Reading that you would just feel "no...NOO!! IT CANT BE!!"
