I just found out if you use any console cheats like "unlock" "player.giveitem" you can't save, your save games disappear after you quite the game and only one you saved before you cheats are in load menu when you start the game agian later. I was using cheats because I get a horrable frame rate, the same thing that happend in f3 before the Large Address Aware patch came out on the nexus.
Edit: okay this is weird, if I put steam in offline mode the frame rate gets alot better and I can save afetr using additem, weird.
 
Steamcloud fucked up New Vegas and it's saving system.

If you disable it, it works better and you can save.

Lots of people have had the same problem.
 
So that is what fucking happened, I just lost like four hours of progress because of that bullshit. I turn the game off and come back, only to find the only two saves on the game are some glitched ones where everyone in the town I am in was hostile to me. It was fucked up.


So what exactly do we need to disable/do to make it so we can save after using console commands? Or rather, I know how to run Steam in offline mode, how do you disable Steam Cloud since I would rather not have to run in offline.
 
Offline mode is easy enough, go to tray at the top of the steam window(next to View and Firends) and choice "go offline" I think they're is a way to turn off steam cloud but I'm sure in new vegas, in L4d 2 it was from the in game menu
 
What a horrid awful bug. This is surely karma coming back and biting me, for feeling so smug and superior over the PS3/360 users who are having to deal with horrid frame rates and constant crashing.

12 hours in on my 360 and no crashes or framerate issues. (knocks on wood)
 
other than the save-game issue and the occasional "whoops! time to re-load!" which FO3 was full of I haven't noticed any bugs which weren't there in FO3 (not to mention FO2 while we're at it).
 
Nah, it really is pretty clean so far from what I have seen. I am about to start a new game and completely ignore the quick save function, if I wake up in the morning after I turn it off and loser another 6 hours of gameplay I will wig out.



Who would have thought that the most game breaking bug for the PC player base was not even the fault of the developers but Valves doing.
 
There is, under upgrades in the game properties tab you can disable Steam Cloud support, people are reporting it does not work though, not to mention Valve already said on the forums they temporary disabled it for the game while they investigate.

It is really fucking weird and seems to be affecting people differently. Take me for example, I have uninstalled and erased every shred of the game from my computer and steam folders about three times now, Steam Cloud and all syncing completely disabled. Right when I start it all back up and reinstall the game it puts an autosave and quicksave from my first play through (that I stopped after 15 min of) back in my folder. One of them is especially weird because it is a save of me holding a gun I never even had in my inventory and being attacked by townsfolk who I never made hostile, no clue at all what that foolishness is about.

I am starting a new game now, just going to use constant manual saves and hope I don't get fucked over again until they patch this. Although to be honest I don't have a good feeling about it, I had two manual saves before, and upon going back into the game they had dissapeared and only those two weird auto/quick saves were there. Valve really dropped the ball with this bullshit.
