Welp, tried the demo..

It's clear that the turn based mode was an after thought. There's no listing of how many action points moving is going to take for example. So, when you have to move, you pretty much have to take baby steps to insure you don't move too far to fire your weapon, or use a stimpack, or whatever you were planning on doing after moving. Very piss poor for the turn based mode.

I really hope the final game is better than this. I was kind of expecting a little bit of interaction with the people, but there is none whatsoever. I guess I should have known this reading what was on the forums, but it's still amazing how little interaction there is for a game baring the name, "Fallout". Hell, there's not even a speech skill.

Also, it's really kind of boring moving six guys around. A "Fallout2 NPC Mode" where you could set up parameters for your guys and let them run themselves would have been nice. Sure, I guess you could say "Use continuous turn based mode, stupid!" but that only turns the game in to a click fest.

Also, the AI in Fallout/Fallout 2 seems to be MUCH smarter. When you kill a raider, a raider not five feet from the one you shot just stands there! Even after your turns are up, he doesn't flinch! In Fallout, you shoot someone, and people come from miles around to see what's going on.

I dunno, maybe the multiplayer will be good, because the single player just kind of sucks.

Yes, I tried it too earlier today, but it seemed so awfully terribly unbelievably fucking buggy and unstable that i gave up and am now downloading it again. I mean, it ran for 10 minutes at best, and then crashed. And after doing that a couple of times, it started showing me the strangest stuff in textures and gfx and then it threw me back to windows and shut itself down without any kind of error messages. So the way I figure it, the file must have been corrupted.

Don't buy furs, it takes trees to make protest signs.

It crashes on me also.

Another thing I noticed last night were the lack of the halos around people in tactical combat. Given the colors of the landscape and people, it's incredibly easy to miss people who are standing in a bushy area or in a building, even if your characters have them in their line of site.

You know, given the lack of the AP move meter in TB mode, the lack of the halos, etc., it really makes me wonder if MicroForte and Chris Taylor are trying to be true to Fallout.

YOU GUYS THINK YOU HAVE GLITCHES AND BUGS? HA HA HA. THIS ONE BEATS EM ALL. JUST RECENTLY I PLAYED THE SECOND MISSION FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME TO LOOK FOR GLITCHES AND STUFF. ANYHOO, I WAS IN A BUILDING AND I COULDN'T CLICK ON DOC. DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS UP AND SUDDENLY HE RUNS TOWARD THE DOOR EXPOSING HIMSELF, RUNS OUT THE HOUSE, CLOSES THE DOOR AND RUNS OUTSIDE WHERE HE GETS GUNNED DOWN. TO ADD TO THE MAYHEM I COULDN'T OPEN THE DOOR BECAUSE IT WAS LOCKED!!!
I CAN'T IMAGINE THAT. Oo0OoOo0HHHHHH. THEY BETTER FIX IT. IF THIS S**T HAPPENS WITH THE RETAIL, I AIN'T SPENDIN A DIME ON IT.

Caplocks mean shouting, so dun shout at us. I never encounter any problem with the game.

The door didn't open because it requires a KEY.
Doc ran away because you are CRAZY.

sorry for the capslock. I'm sure I'm not crazy about the whole thing but how is it that I got into the room if it is locked? So it suddenly locks? Also, i couldn't pick the lock. And i didn't have my daily dosage of pott that day so i was sober and fine. If doc running away was in fact a "illusion" then i guess that the flying pigs i seen yesterday were an illusion too huh!
oh well.
time 4 some "puff, puff, give"

Peace.
