I was reading a protected post on how california was getting old, and it hit me: What happened to the oter side? I'm rusty in my fallout mithology, but i think the other country involved in the war was the USSR. Wouldn't it be interesting to set fallout3 in rusia?

I have thought about this for some time now, and although you misspelled mythology, my fastidious conscience will shrug it off like Clinton's "justifiable" murder of two million children in Iraq and targeting of bomb shelters via handy-dandy-working-force-eliminating CRUISE MISSLES. ANYWAY, it was actually China that bombed the US, and even if it was Russia there'd still be the problem of different languages.

Now, this wouldn't REALLY weigh down on the plot except for the fact that one of the biggest parts of Fallout's motif is its comedic portrayal of American culture. They could make fun of Starcraft in the Korean area of the gameworld, but that's about all that gamers would really laugh at. It would have to be marketed especially to Russia and China for it to really sell well AND be well recieved. Over here, however, it just wouldn't be FALLOUT anymore. Maybe the team worked on it, but it would be a generic cut-and-paste RPG despite existence of guns. Fallout's revolutionary hair style of motif would run out of gel, and maybe even stick up in the morning and forget to water down.

I have to disagree with you on some issues, I live in Colombia, and the American-culture thing is not so American. Thanks to Hollywood, most of the American culture is know worldwide. I also think that an excellent way on comment on a culture is by doing it from the Point of view of anther. I think that the futuristic 50’s look of fallout will go amazingly well with a US view of the communist way of life at that period of time.

The problem with languages could be easily solved in the same way it is done on Hunt for the red October or StarWars (or did you thought that english is the standard galactic language on a galaxy far-far away -please don’t get into a discussion on this subject, I'm just trying to illustrate a point-). The solution is to have the game in English (or the language of the country the game is being distributed at, as it was done with the previous fallouts) and pretend it’s Chinese or Russian.

Yet I have to say that your point on Fallout's hair style, is valid. Maybe the Russian version of fallout could be a spin-off rather than a secual.
