What is the point of the Vault Experiment?

First time out of the vault
I mean, they are social experiments, but for what purpose does knowing what injecting a whole Vault with hallucinogenic gas does serve in the post-apocalyptic world? The Enclave uses the Vault as stock human pools, but what is Vault-Tec's intention? They never really show up in the games, so it's questionable whether they even survive the nuclear football match at all.

Well, the vaults really are experiments. Nobody actually expected a nuclear war, so they designed social experiments instead.
Also, the west coast experiments (those mentioned in the Fallout Bible, Fallout 1, 2 and New Vegas) kinda make sense in that regard. They were mainly social experiments and only Vault 12 was really designed to hurt the inhabitants.
Fallout 3 kinda went overboard with the whole „Vaults are mean experiments! Woo let's poison them, oh, and how about FEV? 'cause, like, Fallout, man!“.
Those don't make any sense.

Enclave after war wanted to go to another planet.
Vaults has to show many variants of their destiny if specific conditions are meet.

As for FO3 vaults, it's bullshit, not connected to fallout lore.

There were also few private vaults, having nothing to Enclave.

Nobody actually expected a nuclear war, so they designed social experiments instead

???

Actually, everyone expected nuclear war, but US government never cared about people.

Yes in the Fallout Bible, Avellone explains:

"The vault experiments were an idea created by Tim Cain, and I don't really know the reason behind them, but I can offer some speculation.

First off, thematically, it's pretty creepy, and we all know that developers will pull all sorts of crazy shit to try and mess with players' heads. It's possible that Tim had just finished watching an X-Files episode and had conspiracy theories swimming around in his subconscious. As to your comment about the experiments being a bit over the top, well, yeah. We're guilty as charged."
