What level does Ranger Combat Armor Start appearing?

Still Mildly Glowing
I thought it was at level 20, you know the armor on the cover of the game? I could've sworn i saw the snipers at Camp Forlorn Hope wearing it when I was level 20 (or lower?) on the xbox version.

But now i am level 22 (on PS3 version) and can not find it anywhere, what is the dealio? Am i just silly?

You should be able to find tons of guys wearing it at Camp Golf, or if you get enough fame with the NCR they'll give you a key to a safehouse that has a set of the armour in it.

They don't start appearing in large numbers until after you do the Fortification hill bit.
Some do turn up in camp Folorn Hope around level 16 though if you're lucky.

Yeah, the easiest way to get it is with the Mister Sandman perk in Camp Golf after you visit the Fort.

Can't swear 100% by the validity of this, but I've noticed in my last couple of playthroughs that Veteran Rangers (along with NCR Heavy Troopers, though why you'd want their gear I can't begin to guess) started to appear around the time I was given the quest "For the Republic, Part II." Given, mind you, not started-- in my current game, I still haven't been to The Fort or talked to Colonel Moore at Hoover, and the two troop types are all over the place at Forlorn Hope and Golf.

If I remember the game files correct, they appear after story state 13, which is short before the game ends. I couldn't find anything that indicates they appear before if you hit some level cap. It wouldn't make sense story-wise anyway.

Yup, it's when I was given the quest For the Republic Part 2.

On the way to Hoover Dam, I stopped at Camp Forlorn Hope and there they were.

So, I equipped my Anti-Materiel Rifle and my 1 incindiary round and VATS glitched them to death.

Thanks for your help guys, I thought I just had to be level 20 or something.

If you have good enough rep with the NCR, then you could've got it without killing anybody. Col. Hsu gives you a key to a ranger safehouse that has a suit in it.

Yeah, but that would require a lot more quests, I am just trying to get to the end of the game quickly because I am playing on Hardcore mode. I havent even met Col. Hsu yet.

edit, the only reason, I am level 22 is because I did the Ignacio Rivas glitch at the end of That Lucky Old Sun quest -- went from level 8 to level 20.

You don't really need to rush on hardcore mode. My first game in hardcore was the longest one yet.

I just don't like that there is no quick way to heal. It was nearly impossible to take out the Brotherhood of Steel on Hardcore because of this. They would hit me with a gauss rifle and take 95% of my health, then I would be in constant retreat mode, using stimpaks to heal 6 hp per second or whatever.

I think I died 5 times before finally killing them all. Granted, I probably could have prepared better by getting the Pulse gun or Alien Blaster -- as it was I was killing them all with my sniper rifle and 10mm SMG.
