What`s annoying...

Apocalypse.

First time out of the vault
...should be fixed/improved.

Hi, just a small list of what i think could make FO3 more enjoyable, not Fallout-like(i have doubts that this is even possible). Feel free to post more annoying things with your solutions about how to make it better. If there`s enough interest we could start making a summarized list.

-You can`t sleep on beds by different people
Solution: Make it possible to sleep on all beds. Further ideas: If somebody finds you in that bed or if it gets night, you get thrown out of the door(without a popup). And RAD plus HP should be decreased per sleeping hour, not per sleep.

-You can`t sleep where you want (outside, etc.) So the idea is that somehow you can adjust a alarm bell like in the old Fallout but your sleep can get interrupted by encounters. The difference between a bed and sleeping somewhere would be the HP & RAD healing rate.

-As far as i know(might have to re-check) weight only has 1,2,3 // N natural numbers, it should have also 0.1 0.2 etc... Things like ammo should have weight and other things should have 0.5 / 0.3 values etc. not just 1, that`s too dumbed down.

-Another one: There`s much food around there(mostly unneeded), so to spice things up a little bit FastTravel should cost a small amount of food, depening on how far you want to FastTravel.

-A lot of sounds are annoying: Bad Karma, the menu music, that level up sound and probably more. So either turn down the volume or replace them or delete them.

-A smaller font( those mods already exists but added it, because everything should be in a package) Also a possibility to turn the quest compass on and off, same with enemys and those other handholding arrows. Also, less popups. I hate popups. :uses popupblocker:

-Improved VATS: The golden formula
a) Decrease VATS AP points, so that you are able to shoot maximum 2 shots per VATS mode
b) Slower regeneration of VATS AP points

-I noticed that you can`t open doors by blowing them up(using explosives for example). Doors which are made out of wood or poor locks should have hitpoints and be destroyable.

-When you shoot somebodys head off you still can loot his hat/mask/glasses/whathaveyou. Shouldn`t be possible. Same goes for different body parts/armor parts/etc.

-Landmines shouldn`t be so easy defusable. (Skillcheck would be great.)

-Minigames requirement are usually 25, 50, 75, 100. Everything in between means you can`t hack/open it. Obliviously it`s another stupid design decision.

-Change some of the dialogue lines of the character. Seriously "Whats the news around town?" or "What are you doing around here?" Like they couldn`t come up with something better.

-Walking is too slow. It`s nice to enjoy the landscape in that pace, but what i want is to enjoy the landscape AND to move forward. (Nah, can`t enjoy it while running)

Item Weight Fix - Fixes the Weight of many items (items which had no weight (except ammo) now have 0.1 - detailed list of changes is included in the .rar-file

Doesn't fix the ammo weight, but as far as I know thats not possible at the moment.

No Bad Karma Sound Removed - removes the annoying "bad Karma Sound"

No heartbeat sound mod - this tiny mod removes the annoying heartbeat sound which appeared when you were low on health.

No Ui Sounds - Removes various annyoing sounds. 2 different versions.
1. remove the "XP-$CashBLING$-Sound when gaining xp
2. remove the gaining xp sound and in addition removes the beepsound on levelups/questinformation updates/gui popups

Doesn't fix the Levelup Sound, but as far as I know thats not possible at the moment.

If you are not satisified by 10% you might want to edit that with fomm.

Thank you. I hope it wasn`t a lot of effort for you as pretty much all of them seem to lead to F3 Nexus, seems to me that this is the place to start looking.

There is something which i forgot to add and i think it`s quite useful:
The PiPBoy allows you to order your inventory stuff (weapons, aid, etc.). It would be good to have the same function in the bartering screen. Too bad i`m not a modder but i hope it inspires some people.

Another thing i noticed is that the interiour of buildings look a lot like a copy´n paste job, especially those unimportant ones.

The bartering screen has this per default. Look at the top of the seller, left and right of his names are arrows. you can cycle to specific lists (weapons, ammo, misc).

and no, it was no effort, I just quoted myself from the NMA recommendations thread, which is basically the best the nexus has to offer (since I check out the nexus and gather all the useful links while ignoring mods like "golden desert eagle counter strike course")

Oh.. good to know. I`m surprised how i oversee things when almost every GUI button and text is so huge.

Are you just compiling a list or are you working on a package? Handpicked mods are better for personal customization but testing them, downloading them and putting them together is very exhausting and takes a lot of time and you need to have a good taste on what should be improved and what not.

I pack some of the mods which overlaps otherwise and I try to include everything in the list which makes the game more like Fallout. Balancing is a bit hard at the moment, but I try my best
