What the Hell is wrong with this game? (F2)

First time out of the vault
It seems to me that either they changed the game itself (compared to F1) drastically, or it's just fncked up. Maybe you people can explain a couple of things for me.

I'm inside the Militairy base Lvl2. First up, the mutants seem to be getting three turns for every one turn I get. Why.

The sniper rifle was my weapon of choice in F1. It worked great for taking out monsters at long range and always did heaps of damage (as it should). I shoot a mutant in the eyes at close range, it does 7 damage. That's lower than the minimum!

I'm in the same base again, on the same levels, and I take a rest to heal my party. All of a sudden the screen goes white and I'm dead. WHY!?!

Can someone explain to me what's wrong, or wether the design team deliberately changed this?

PS. Where's the power armour in the base?

Your movement might be screwed up because of a broken leg. That's my best guess.

I recall reading that there's a penalty for the Sniper Rifle at close range. It's only supposed to be used for long range, hence the penalty.

Are you dying from either radiation or super-stimpaks?

Those are my best answers...

Yeah I used a few Super Stimpacks. Can they really kill you? That's Naf! But no, I don't recall ever breaking my leg. I'll check it out. Thanks for answering me dude.

Yes, they really can kill you if you take too many without being able to heal more than you'll lose within that time period.

Super Stimpaks can also be used to kill NPCs in a diplomatic manner.

The power armor is in the Enclave airbase. I am being vague, if you want spoilers, use one of the walkthroughs

There's first version power armor in lockers in the military base. I can't remember how many suits, but I'm pretty sure its more than one.

Aha, forgot about those. However they are useless after you get to the Enclave.

I only found one in the base. However, you can *twitch* purchase them from the arms dealer in San Francisco.

There's also one suit in the Brotherhood "base" in San Francisco for free. Plus two killer weapons.

I love it how the character physically changes on the screen if you put on the Enclave armour. Just great.

Quick question: is there anyone here who chooses NOT to use Power Armour when they find it?

There are some, but I use it until I'm strong enough on my own. I'm kind of a pansy when it comes to games, if it's better I use it.

In Fallout 1 I took on the Military Base with a leather jacket and my trusty shotgun, and won.
