What to do if mastigator tears your ear??

In order to become champ at new reno ring, u need to beat the mastigator, but that would cost 1 charisma point, since he will tear your ear! Isn´there any way to become champ without losing your ear? what about the ear tha stays in your ionventory? is there any use for this item? Thanks!

I beat everyone in New Reno (became champ, at least), - with the ironplated gloves, to be fair - and I can't remember anyone biting off my ear.

Also, if your character doesn't SUCK at Unarmed, the Masticator won't simply live long enough to bite you.

And if your unarmed ROCKS, you'll bite his ear off! (This is not a joke).
Just as the round starts, strike the Masticator on the head, that will likely cause a knock-out.

My preferance (with low HtH) is to hit him in the legs, wich will reduce his AP, and thus actions needed to bite
