What's the deal with the hunting rifle's look?

What I mean is that ugly, out-of-place rubber band wrapped around the action and before the trigger guard. Is anyone else turned off by this? Is it supposed to make it looked more gritty and customized, like a sawed-off shotgun? If so, then it fails horribly and looks more like a hick's hasty repair job. I don't know about you, but I don't feel that relaxed seeing a piece of my gun held together by scotch tape and krazy glue. And its a real pity since its a relatively decent weapon early in the game but I can't bring myself to use it.

Sorry it was cobbled together and wasn't like some Counter-Stroke bullshit.

Or did the setting of Fallout fly over your head?

Well, I merely mean I can't see the purpose of that rubber band. I can understand hacking down a shotgun's barrel to increase muzzle expansion and replacing the stock with a pistol grip for a better grip but not the rubber band. Is it meant to hold it together? To muffle the blast? I DO enjoy the makeshift, gritty, heavy-calibered weapons like the sawed-off shotgun and the .223 pistol but the hunting rifle doesn't possess such a ferocity or refined look.

Quite possibly.

"If so, then it fails horribly and looks more like a hick's hasty repair job."

The setting makes it a bit hard to be choosy over what repair jobs and improvisations made to hardware, when the world is pretty well screwed over. There is that whole "the world was nuked" thing going on.

Yeah, now that I take that into perspective, I suppose that is understandable, too.

aha ha ha well well well another perfectly good comment which has faced the wrath of The Roshambo Warrior and slowly been beaten down so that Gunslinger admits defeat!

And this is supposed to mean what? I'm sorry, I had not realize that the above discussion was a battle of wit and I'm sorry that I have not provided your simple mind with the verbal tirade it sorely yearns for. It seems that an acquiescence to a viable comment appears to be an "admitting" to defeat from your limited insight. Where I had thought a civilized conversation was ensuring, you have misinterpreted it as tongue-lashing where I have "sulked" away in defeat. Next time, when you've gained enough literary aptitude to actually conjugate a comprehensible sentence or let alone a string of correlating thoughts, come find me and I'll show you a sophisticated verbal lashing. But judging by your name, Average Joe-Slob Burger Flipper, I'd be more inclined to think that you'll undoubtedly struggle in sounding out a word with more than three syllables.

I'll admit I was a bit condescending with some part, but we've had a rash of new Counter-Strike-itis (and other brain donor post by Tyrant94 to go with it), and I jumped by reflex. Apologies are due for that, and I am sorry for doing so. After a while, it gets trying with the new flood of people coming in and posting some really odd stuff.

And if you think this is bad, check out DAC's forums. Some of those threads can be a bit...annoying. :D
