Whats the quickest way to tell if patch is working??

WHATS the quickest way to see if my 1.05 patch is working??

I have tried a couple of times with no luck. I just now deleted all of FO2 and reinstalled it fresh, (its does a version 1.02d install automaticly), they I installed the 1.05 and 1.05 update patch,

OK, I start a new game, whats should I do right away to see if the patch is working?

Is there any advice you can give me on how to install the patch?
