Where can I still get Fallout 2?

CaptainStag

First time out of the vault
I suppose you guys would probably not have any better idea than I do, but I was wondering if anyone knows where I can still acquire this great game for a reasonable price. I checked amazon and most of the prices are about $36 and up, which seems like a lot for an relatively old game.

I just thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Thanks for any help.

It's been said before, but wherever you can find it is probably the best deal.

Also, there are Fallout two-packs running around all over the place...both games for about 10 bucks. Try snooping around for that. They pop up in odd places...

Your best bet is to go to any computer or game store near you and thoroughly root through the discount bins and "jewel" cases. Most places like that will have a copy lying around somewhere.

Thanks for the replies.

I actually already have a copy of Fallout 2 - but its in Polish! At least I think it's Polish....

Whatever it is, its not something I can read, so unless there is a patch/hack/mod that will translate the default game and menus for me then I guess I'm stuck =/

It's kind of funny seeing Interplay in such a financial crisis while people shell out big bucks for games they consider to be "dead" so to speak.

Polish?

Impossible, there wasn't a Polish version of the game released here, all UK versions.

Tsk tsk. *Buy* the game

It might be the German version because they released a version there. But it doesn't have any children to kill/steal from/whatever, that should help you figure it out.

I've seen the dual jewel pack in Target a few times, you could try there, everyonce in a while Gamestop has it.

I have got a Simplyfied Chinese Version, although there's some forbidden, we can modify it. hehe
But I cannot find Fallout anywhere. And the Fallout in Amazon is for USA/CAN only... sigh

I'm almost inclined to sell you my copy...

Indeed it would only be for a good cause.

plead your case, then I may decide to sell it to you, for the cost of shipping only.

btw, I got lucky and found it in a store that specializes in used stuff, for two dollars.

Heh

Thanks for the offer Dove, thats quite generous of you. However, there's about 6 hours left on an ebay auction and I've had the winning bid for the last 15 hours so chances are I'll probably just end up getting it from there.

Anyway, yes I'll admit that the current copy of Fallout and Fallout 2 I have are not EXACTLY "legit"

But if it were at the nearest store I'd have simply gone and picked it up. So it was more out of necessity than anything else really.

I'm actually playing through Fallout for the first time right now with a relatively no-frills copy(no music, "talking heads", movies, a few conversation branches seem to be missing".

Even with all these flaws, I still stayed up until about 4 am last night playing it. I'm hooked like I haven't been in years. I can't believe it took me this long get around to playing it.

And from what I've read most of you guys seem to think original Fallout pales in comparison to the 2nd. Needless to say I can't wait to actually get my hands on a "real" copy.

Anyways, thanks for all the replies and whatnot.

BTW LvFaSha, have you checked European sites at all? There's actually a collection which was somewhat recently released in Europe called "Fallout: The Ultimate Collection". I've seen it for about 15 British pounds or $27 US Dollars. I'm not sure if you'll have any better luck but it seems like the chances of finding someone who'll ship to China from Europe are better than that of US/Can to China.

Fallout 1

Since I'm in a similar position: does anyone know where I could get a original copy of Fallout (1) in english? Not the White-Label edition but the original one from '97, complete with the manual.

I'm desperate. It seems that no one here in Germany has one to sell, but I don't want to play the german version (uagh).

It'd be great if you could help me!

How is the voice acting in the German and French versions of the two games, anyway? It'd be hard to follow the act of David Warner as Morpheus, or Tony Jay as the Lieutenant, or Michael Dorn as Marcus/Frank Horrigan, or... well, pretty much any one of them, actually.

Well, I played F1 in german for about 3 to 4 hours and then went and searched for a make-it-english patch.

When I listen to the F2 intro in english, "war, war never changes" sends a shiver down my spine (at least it did the last time I heard it). The F1 intro in German is somehow ... flat, unexciting, emotionless.

And don't mention the translation of the written language - as I said before, uagh.
They made some pretty funny mistakes with the translation of F2 that I know of (which I think were fixed later with the patches). For example, the "raised plate" in the temple of trials was directly translated to "Hochgestecker Teller", meaning "a dish, stuck up high".

I found my copies years ago at a Software Etc in a bundle pack for $20. I doubt you still can, but if you live in a decent sized city, pick up the yellow pages and call around to all the game stores. It's worth a try.

I would have thought that interplay would have been grasping at straws and hoping for people to buy this relatively old game.

If they are even still capable of selling things.....

The dual jewel copy is usualy only $10 for FO1/2

And as far as quality, FO1 is far better, but the improvements made in FO2 make it funer to play.

I was in walmart recently(I was there on official DVD buying business)and i was lookin through the game section and i noticed quite a few copies of Fo1&2 for $4.99! I even bought one incase i ever need a replacement for my aging cds.

What prevents you from downloading it off the Internet? Some kind of a moral obligation before the developers?
