Hey, .Pixote., this topic reminded me of this test i made some time ago; (using your trick to re-angle tactics scenery, re-angled enviro-armor):

I can't really tell the difference X'il...is he slightly wider? :look:

Does anyone know if RedView can save the Tactics animations as GIF's, if so then that would be a fast way of making the FRM's...just take the GIF's through the Frame Animator, etc.

Too much distortion for my taste. Also, how will you eliminate soo fucking setting-wise M16/MP5/RPG7 from his hands :wiggle:

Guess it would need a lot fixing.

Depending on how perfectionist you want to be i suppose. What i posted above was pretty simple though, just a few automated actions on PS.

Heh, yes, besides changing the view angle to the FO1/2 angle, i also re-sized the critter a few pixels in height and one or two in wide to make it fit better the 'normal' size of FO1/2 critters.

Not much more distortion than ye olde, regular, FO1/2 critters though. Most of it comes from the fact that this enviroarmor is much more elaborate that the old critters and therefore the resizing distorts it even more so than the re-angling.

I could do it by modifying the animation frame by frame, etc, but i'm not going to, i think i'm done with FO modding, this was just a curiosity test i did months ago to see if .Pixote.'s way of re-cycling tactics scenery could be used for critter sprites as well.

It will be a sad day when we don't see you modding some critter here or there X'il...you have given a lot to the community over the years. :salute:

Too right. Well said Pix. Without you, x'il, the Long hair dude and bald dude never would've got done, not to mention your other awesome critters.

It does seem FO modding has gone into downtime recently. Maybe everyone's playing FO:NV? (I've been one of them, on and off, for the last few months)

But you know, recently, having played through NV once I realise i have no desire to play it through again. When I have some time and get the itch for some fallouting, i've chosen FO2 recently. This has motivated me to continue work on my survival mod .... slowly but surely anyway.....

Can't wait Josan...maybe you should message Ardent, he is building something similar for his mod, exchanging ideas wont hurt...

I'll guess before FNV release, everyone was so hyped up that Fallout 2 modding was totally in again. You see it pretty good on the most thread creation dates, etc. Right after FNV was released, this board here became a dead board again.

It's really shitty and sad.

At least this console shooter with Fallout written on the box has more roleplaying in it than any other rpg that was released in the recent years.

Too bad that roleplaying factor only doesn't automatically make a game worth playing - I need moar, obviously. As for the recent years of gaming industry - nah, it's a great waste of time to even talk about it.

Heh, thanks, it's not so much the undead board, but i've pretty much run out of ideas and willpower. Besides, there may not be much of a point in doing more of that when some guy(s?) are making 3d stuff that's coming very close to the originals.

Unfortunately yes, but what is roleplaying? and what type/style/whatever of roleplaying is 'best'? Those at the codex have been tearing each other to pieces for years with this subject. Personally, i think the whole 'choices and consequences' stuff is quite an overrated thing to hang a whole game on when you can get plenty of c&c from even some lowly hentai game... I'd rather have replayability (which is the whole point of c&c) in the form of 30 unique, interesting, different ways/tricks/whatever to kill/overcome an obligatory enemy in a linear quest.

FNV features lots of replayability due to it's quest design. C&C == Replayability.

I don't want to transform this thread into "why FNV isn't as bad as some people say"-fest, but it's really annoying to read such bullshit. Yes, FNV is more of a shooter than the original games, but that doesn't change the fact it has a rich background with lots of quests (with more than just a few really well written ones) that can be done in more than just one way.

Sure.

Now regarding c&c: i said that replayability is the whole point of c&c. And i also said that that's not the only way to have replayabilty, so, while c&c does 'equal' (guarantees) replayability, replayability does not 'equal' c&c.

I see no bullshit whatsoever regarding FO3NV in this thread, not from me nor anyone else.

No, it's not 'more of a shooter' (what is that?), it is a shooter. And yes, i'm sure it has a lot of well written quests with much c&c... but apparently some people don't find that to be enough to overcome the rest of it or hang the whole game on...

Hell yes! I'm suffering from a kinetosis (also known as a seasickness) everytime, when I'm looking at some 3D environment for 5 minutes or so. Thanks to this, any 3D FPS is pretty unplayable for me, damned polygons!

I'm modding FO like crazy for my mod. Last time I checked I had 250+ new scenery items. Since these were made in just a 2 weeks period, I'll have to redo about 30% of them because I was sloppy.
