I have:
1)main guy...who is a sniper/Rocketeer/grenadier
2)Stich as the medic/gambler/trap finder/doctor....
3)Farsight as the sniper/recon
4)Stein as my heavy weapons guy, toting around the Vindicator
5)Vector as a sniper/locksmith
6)Kalia I belive, as mechanic/trapper/useless since my APC is stuck in a base

I havn't lost a single guy yet, I just repladed Rebecca with Vector because Vector has a higher lockpicking and Sniper ability...

Well, what are you guys using?

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Apr-05-01 AT 11:14PM (GMT)[p]I must admit that I made a big mistake so far. I collected snipers and build them up. Now I have a real death squad for all but robots. No one can come near me, but robots tear my squad apart... Not including my guy who has 160% in energy weapons so he kicks ass with plasma rifle. Also I have Jo in squad, she's using Vindicator, but it sucks versus robots...

I rather prefer making my own characters, I don't like any from reqruits master

Snake (Main w/ Stien Face) - Sniper/energy/outdoorsman, kamakazi & gifted, tears people up. Also has comprehension early so dabbles in pilot, traps, science, etc. If I did it over I might have tagged traps instead, he just doesn't have enough in traps to really do anything, but outdoorsman would be low, and I NEED that at 100. probably going to tag traps as soon as I get a level there isn't something I just have to have :) (what's that at oh 27 th? want better criticals, gain pe, sniper, bonus ranged damage again, then could take it..)

Stich - Close Burst/Medic/Doctor/ Tagged Repair also. Mutate! - Fast Shot, very nice for him.

Rebbeca - Sniper/Lockpick Mutate! - Finnesse. she's o.k. might dump for a energy person if one comes along.

Farsight - Sniper/Sneaker Mutate! - Gifted. She's o.k.

Trevor - Bomerman/Lootholder Mutate!- Gifted - big mistake, didn't have enough int to handle the gifted downside. Also tagged Big guns, big mistake there too, not enough skill points to live up to using it, but he still throws just fine and carries loot o.k, probably keeping him, but first to go if someone better comes along.

Jo - Pilot/Big Guns - Kicks ass with a Browning after I got her weapon handling, thinking of dumping for Stien since my main can pilot o.k. but stien is lv 8 and she's lv 15. Mutate! - Fast Shot - Big mistake, should have gone for Gifted then she could have gotten Bonus Rate of Fire instead and had the stats for sharpshooter too.

I put away Rebecca and pull out Babs for stealing, and Stumpy for gambling and barter as needed outside of missions. I used to pull out Kevin for repair & barter but decided I needed a repairman in my main party, which would have been nice at st. lois...

Actually I only use Stich and Farsight, and of course my main character...don't need nobody else...more xp points for them then...

Hmm

I was under the experssion that the XP gets divided 6 ways no matter how many people you have in your party, not sure what that means but..still...how do you just go about fighting with a sniper, medic, main guy? I am soo glad I had a lot of snipers, 3 of them actually, 2 close in guys, but later the robots are becoming pains. But I have found ways to deal with them.

RE: Hmm

Doesn't matter how many people you have in your party they all the the same xp. You kill a raider alone, you get 11 xp, you kill with a whole party of 6 you get 11 xp each.

cupertino cheese fest

At level 11, just after mission 9:

Me - Sm. Guns, Sneak, Lockpick, Traps, I drive since I've read all the driving books. Str 4, so I cart around a double barreled shotgun, and do all the recon. Will probably start pumping points into Engergy Weapons.
Gifted, Fast Shot. Fast Learner (oops!), Flexible, Leader.

Farsight - Sniper, Sneak. I might just put her extra points into Steal so I don't have to bother with Babs.
Night Vision, Flexible, Mutate! (Fast Shot).

Rage - Sniper, Sneak. I've been putting his extra points into Barter. I figure he uses his natural, uh, aggressiveness to sort of intimidate the QMs.
Awareness, Night Vision, Mutate! (Gifted ... he can still do called shots).

Stich - Doc, Medic, and I've been giving him all the Science and Repair books. He's also very good with that auto-shotgun, as we all know. He's got 40 pts to spend right now, and I don't know whether to put them into Sneak or Outdoorsman...
Stat (shoulda taken Comprehension), Team Player, Mutate! (Gifted ... just had to get that PER up!).

Trevor - Okay w/Small Guns, great at throwing (after missions 8 & 9, I've got over 150 Frags). Makes a great pack mule. I've been building up Big Guns, since he can carry the Browning M2 (if only there were enough .50 ammo...). Working on Sneak.
Team Player, Flexible, Mutate! (Fast Shot).

Stein - Big Guns, Small Guns. Working on Sneak.
Healer (bah!), Night Vision, Mutate! (Fast Shot).

I figure Stein and Trevor are somewhat expendable if/when someone better shows up. The trick with that (which makes it unlikely that I'll think anyone is better and will end up keeping them) is that, since I got these guys at fairly low level, I have been able to spend their points as I want - I've yet to see a character show up in the Pool where I really like what the computer has tagged and/or how it's spent their points.

1) Main Char (Multi-gun-guy aka MGG)
222%-Sm gun
140%-Big gun
124%-En gun

2) Max (A pure big gun guy)
3) Alice (sis of max but train her to be En gun Expert)
4) Malice (My Gauss Gun Guy aka GGG and thief too)
5) Hurt (Medic/Sniper reporting!)
6) Ed (Lockpicking,driving,science,Sniper too)

Tats my squad, i'm changing Ed for a robot soon though. Robots are the best!

I have'nt changed a single person in my squad. By the time I got people to recruit, my characters were higher in the skills I wanted so there was no point. I thought that my characters would get promoted.

Whats so great about outdoorsman? I have only had the game for a bit so I am still on first mission.

So long,
Larg0

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Apr-07-01 AT 08:51PM (GMT)[p]Largo - the outdoorsman skill let's you choose to avoid random encounters in the wilderness. The patch should fix it so there won't be as many encounters, but right now you will often have five or more while traveling between locations. (Even short distances.) You also seem to get a lot more in certain areas, like near mission locations. Or maybe that's just me.

here is mine and its just plain sweet:

1. Chapel-My guy; uses all types of guns, sneaks, and pilots machines
2. Dillon-I swear he is about the best damn sniper in the game (saving the ghouls in Quincy is worth it!!!) His critical chance is 21 percent and kills thing ultra quick with a sniper rifle.
3. Shreik-A nice deathclaw whos haas been becoming more limited in uses lately. He is good for taking out enemys with laser weapons and hand-to-hand combat foes.
4. Hurt-A medic who is excellent on and can wield a pancor jackhammer quite nicely :)
5. Vector-Pretty good sniper i geuss. Nothing too outstanding.
6. Pump-A super mutant who can use big guns very nicely and can toss grenades with skill.

Outdoorsman is a must if you want to get certain encounters, you get loads and loads of encounters you don't want like radscorpions & whatever... say you want to go hunt down some mutants for some 7.62 ammo, once you get 100 outdoorsman you can avoid all other encounters and just get mutants. It's also nice as you can wander around the map and avoid all other encounters except for specials if you want too.

Also started a new game and have a little different party now.

Me - energy/repair/outdoorsman.

Farsight - sneak & snipe she sneaks really well with a sneak of 125 & silent running. mutate!: gifted. also training her in steal but think it's a wasted effort, Babs is so much better

Stitch - shotgunner/doctor/firstaid/pilot/traps/science - he's got comprehension and is using all those points to learn everything. thought about replacing with ED but I've got him too customized now.

Rebbecca - sniper/energy/science/lockpick. Mutate!: fast shot. training her up in energy at the moment, my favorite combat npc...

Target - throwing/sneaking mutate!: fast shot (yes does make throwing faster) still not sure he's as good a sTrevor with the lower str, but he's doing o.k.

Rage - sniper/bigguns/sneaking mutate!: fast shot training him up in big guns, I like him alot better than Jo, but not having it tagged to begin with really hurts.

as another side note as my skill in weapons is going up it actually seems like my people are hitting each other alot more and getting nasty tags (winded, crippled, etc) from it much more
