Why should the Fallout Community take Bethesdas' crap?

DarkPhilly

First time out of the vault
Why are we the Fallout community taking this crap? Especially from Bethesda.
Granted 90% of the population here and around the web on other Fallout forums
are in the same boat in regards to what the direction of FO3 is heading.

We can speculate, whine, bitch, moan etc.
However as a gamer I need to take a stand against this utter shit,
that the industry is throwing in our faces, time and again.

What the hell happened to the quality entertainment experience?
Its not just happening in the gaming community but the entire entertainment industry.

Fallout, is one of the last bastions of that quality entertainment,
and now Beth is going to butcher it by applying the same approaches that they made in Oblivion
(which is approiatley titled btw)/ Morrowind.

I know there has been rantings of this before and time and again,
but as a community we need to stop buying into this mundane,
brain dead cycle of buying the same recycled games with slight
variations.

Zero hour is approaching where Bethesda will start leaking, and
promoting their bastardization of a quality product/series. Do we
boycott, hold our breath and HOPE they don't screw the pooch?
Hell no make a stand, tell them we don't want this shit. Tell them
we are tired of companies thinking of the bottom dollar, cashing in
on names.

WE as a community have sat here debating, talking, yelling, flaming,
hoping, praying and for what? We all know where Bethesda is
taking this game, yet no one is yelling at them, we're constantly
in-fighting which each other wasting time, which they continue to
rape this license.

Granted we don't know much and what we do know is not good
news. We as a community need to be heard, so that another
license is not in the shitter.

Bethesda knows very well what the community wants, they knew it from day one.

But, y'see, they're not making it for us, they are making it for console fanbois who salivated over Oblivion.

So what do you suggest we do?

Hope for a better future? Yeah, sounds pathetic, but I can't think of anything else. Ever since the money-hungry Big Beth has bought the rights to Fallout, the near future isn't very bright, and considering their position in the game industry, they're gonna stay there for some time. I just hope they'll screw Fallout 3 up so hard that even the console fanboys who only want "beeg kool gunz and teh shineye graffix" will find it "teh suckey", and eventually go bankrupt, selling the rights to Fallout to a team that will actually cooperate with the real Fallout fanbase. Not likely? Perhaps. But it's better than nothing, I guess.

The only 'hope' we have to enjoy a good quality CRPG is perhaps lies on the hand of small/indie-developer this day. There's where I'm dumping my money of CRPG love. They don't usually get tied by PR bullshit and financialcrap.

What are we whining about anyways? It's not like we could actually DO anything. If Bethsoft doesn't want to hear the fans of the game for which they have bought a license to listen instead to the fans who liked their latest game then it's the end of the story. And what is going to happen to fallout is precisely the same thing as what happened to the x-com sery.
I can predict that after Fallout 3 comes out the FO fans will demand that someone makes a proper remake for the first two games and will give up the idea of getting a decent sequel. Just like x-com games are still being developped and still no good remake has been made although the fans are crying in desperation.
So here's the one and only solution : if you want a fallout 3 and you want to have it your way then develop it yourself like the x-com fans are doing. It's the only solution I see since there hasn't been a single decent video-game produced in 7 years' time.
Oh and by the way I was under the impression that Bethesda isn't really developing this game at the moment anyways. It sounds like Fallout3 is still in the basement.

No, here's what we do: we make sure that Bethsoft's Fallout 3 doesn't get a good footing by making it clear that it's a betrayal of the original Fallout series.

Ehm....maybe you should, like, read the newspage here.

Bethesda doesn't care about us. We aren't even a blip on the radar compared to the numbers of people they are hoping to sell this game to.

If they make a game to our specs it won't sell a tenth(might be a little optimistic) as well as if they made "Oblivion w/ Guns".

There's nothing to do. They want money. It's a business not an art studio. The last gaming company that really gave a shit about the genre died. Real RPGs are finished. Fallout's finished.

After reading through several forums on different sites and lurking in the shadows reading the brain matter (complete shit) that leaks from the Xbox 360 fanboys mouths.

I have come to the conclusion that Bethesda making F3 possibly for 360 is like your best friend banging your mom, Not to mention giving your sister a dirty sanchez!

I have a perfect Idea of what we do though.
We make our own Fallout universe out of "this" planet,
it would be simple we only need to build hundreds of vaults,
Make sure we have technological advances parallel to Fallout,
Deplete the earths resources and we are on our way!

Than after all that, "Nuke The Bastards!" :ok:

Although I can't entirely disagree with this, if they really intended to just make "Oblivion with guns" why bother to buy the rights to fallout? To most of todays gamers The Elder Scrolls is a bigger name than Fallout. I don't think it is just about money. Bethesda wants to make a game that can please the fans, the question is if they can.

It's kind of similar to how Uwe Boll truely wants to make movies that do justice to the games they are based on.

Because the name was cheap as hell, because they can't make *just* Elder Scrolls games, because this may interfere less with the TES series.

Yeah, that must be why they have the fansites *blacklisted*.
Yeesh.

MAYBE, like Uwe Boll, Beth is willing but is incapable like him.

I wonder what is his response to the critics of his shitty movies,
"This is what I do best!" ?

I wonder how come Uwe Boll doesn't make a movie about Fallout. I bet he waits for Fallout 3 to make something exquisite indeed.

Uwe Boll and Beth hand in hand...a trully wonderful partnership. They do what they do best and it shows!
