Wierd Bard's Tale Publicity Stunt

That's pretty funny. I know it's most likely going to be a BG:DA clone in a lot of ways, but I have to say it's starting to appeal to me: Cary Elwes is a great choice for a voice actor, and games with humor in them are pretty rare. I'll wait for some reviews, of course, but I'm willing to give the game a fair shot.

Damn, that was pretty funny... i'm sure it will be some kind of BG:DA, but i'm surely gonna give it a spin once it reaches this part of the world, i'm not completely averse to that kind of gameplay.

There is a review of The Bard's Tale at IGN.

I can put up with Dark Allience gameplay if the humour is as good as reported. I'm certainly interested now, I'll be keeping my eye on The Bard's Tale until the PC version is released.

Funniest game evar? That's a pretty bold statement, what with Sam & Max Hit the Road, the first two Monkey Island games and something else I can't think of at the time out there.

the review may be grossly overpraising of some aspects, but still it isn't nearly as bad as the pc gamer review of HL2.

Well, heh, so much for that. Another review, this one by GameSpot. Awarding a groundbreaking 6.7. Not unexpected, but disappointing none the less.

I was going to play it, but then I read the words "Dark Alliance engine". I guess that's the only thing they're ever going to use for a console "RPG"--either some Final Fantasy crap or the ever-crappier (if it's even possible) Dark Alliance engine. And it doesn't even have the ONE feature that made Dark Alliance and F:POS bearable: two player mode. Someone needs to be beaten with his own skull, Red vs. Blue style, for that blunder.

I still think it's possible to release a good console RPG, though. Possible, but not likely.

I agree with the 2 player thing, but saying it's worse than those so called japanese "rpgs" is rather offensive.

Japanese "RPGs" are more in-depth because in Dark Alliance "RPGs" you press two buttons to resolve "combat": "Attack" and "Potion/Stimpak" In "RPGs" such as Final Fantasy you press many more buttons in combat, such as "Up" and "Down" and "Confirm". Plus, Final Fantasy "RPGs" require you to hold down a run button, whereas Dark Alliance does not.

Just noticed, he said "funniest game i've ever played" and then compares it to conker's bad fur day, Earthworm jim and Halo ... Never played conker's but earthworm jim was just borderline funny, and halo, for christ's sake, the only thing funny about that game is the review scores it got.

I'll just stick to the monkey island games, full throttle and giants: citizen kabuto for use as reference for classifiying a game as funny.

Err... Montez? I did point that out just a few posts earlier in this thread.

I guess you don't read my posts, I'm just going to sit in the corner and cry. Montez doesn't pay attention to me.

I'm sorry, did someone say something? I could've sworn I heard a noise. Eh, nevermind.

Honestly though, I apologize. I get really busy sometimes and end up quickly skimming a thread before replying, with results like the above - I guess I should stop doing that, eh? No offense intended.

I wonder if hardcore fans of the original Bards Tale Series (1,2&3 1985-1988) are as pissed off about a flashy/real-time console remake, as hardcore Fallout fans were pissed off about FOPOS.

If I was a fan of the original Bards Tale Series, I'd be pretty pissed off right now. The new game has absolutely nothing in common with the trilogy except maybe a few storyline bits, history, and the name of the game.
