Wilhelm Scream

I thought this was kinda interesting. I have heard this numerous times in many movies and I finally found the source. Anyone else ever notice this?

I think a lot of people have noticed this. I was unaware of the name, I usually referred to it as the "Star Wars scream" since that's where most people probably first heard it. One of the stormtroopers gets shot and falls down from one of the catwalks, and utters this shriek as he goes down. It has been used in some really big budget films (usually action movies).

While hearing this over the top and familiar scream can sometimes take you out of the movie, usually it is used only in big action scenes (that are already ridiculous), and then the volume of the scream is usually low enough that you won't notice unless you are already familiar with it. In some ways it is a homage, but it also is a way of telling the audience, "there was an actual person who worked on the sound design." Other times it is used for purely comedic purposes.

The funny thing is that when someone asks me to tell them what I learned on school today i will not remember a thing, but this I will remember for years I am sure. And definetly every time I watch star wars.
