Will a R2 game play in an R1 console?

I got Deus Ex HR for christmas from my ex (she got it before we broke up, and we still exchanged presents in an attempt to stay civil), but she got the Region 2 copy (god know's how).

So instead of having an awkward moment seeing her mom and handing it to her I wanted to try it out, so I thought I check with you guys (who know their shit, so to speak) before that.

No, it will not work on a vanilla console that is not R2. If it is for PC then it should work just fine. As for how, I have a Canadian copy of Arkham City and a PAL copy of Arkham Asylum thanks to Amazon (both gifts), fortunately they are both for PC.

I believe PS3s are region free as far as discs go, but you wont be able to make R1 DLC work with a R2 game.

True. However, the PS3 is still region locked when it comes to PS1 and PS2 games, unless you're downloading them from the PSN or something.
