Yet another Fallout 2 Installation Problem Post

What a mouthful of a title... Here's my problem.
I got Fallout 2 after hearing how great it is. I've installed the original Fallout that came with Fallout 2, and it runs great. I have yet to have a single problem with it. But Fallout 2, on the other hand, I can't even get to install. I pop in the CD, and Autorun comes up... no problem here until I click "Install". This freezes the autorun screen, and for the most part, my computer. If I Ctrl-Alt-Del, it shows "Fallout 2(tm) (Not responding)"... if I End Task it, my system will lock up, and if I don't, it's locked up anyway. The problem, anyway, is with my Setup.exe file on there... Here's my system info...

An Acer 166 Mhz Pentium (yeah, the original), with 32 megs of EDO Ram... A 8 speed CD-ROM, an Aztec Sound Labs Wavrider 32 PnP, a ATI Graphics Pro Turbo Mach64 card, 1 meg of Ram, and I'm not sure if this matters, but I have a Diamond Monster 3D II on here also... I've got all the latest drivers, DirectX 8, and I've tried disabling just about every single piece of hardware on here in Windows, and still it won't go...

I'm out of ideas here, and I'd love any help. I'm chomping at the bit to get to play Fallout 2. I hope that was enough info for you to guess at the problem, if not, I'll supply whatever else is needed.

Thanks!

Something else...

Acer made their own CD-Rom for this, so it's difficult to get a new driver for it, which I think I need. The problem is getting that it's not just Setup.exe. It's any file I try to access off the CD-ROM itself. It will do a half spin up, with the access light flashing on for one second, then off again, and repeats this, while it keeps trying to spin up. I tried to copy Setup.exe and setup.dat to my Hard drive, hoping that maybe it'd give the CD less problems, but the CD-Rom starts the half spin up thing any time I try to access it... it literally freezes my system... Anyone have any suggestions on a generic driver I can use, or some other way to fix this, short of buying a new CD-Rom? I'd rather like to save my money for a new computer, but if I really need to, I may end up getting some of this stuff just for Fallout 2. Once again, Thanks for any help in advance.

RE: Something else...

Sorry, I can't really help you with your problem, but I do know what it is to have cd-rom problems. If you can't find a generic drive I suggest you do buy a new cd-rom player. You can always take it out and put it in your new computer when you upgrade...
