I was playing around with item editing in Fallout 2 and I found a .pro file for a zip gun. For those that don't know, a zip gun is a cheap ass homemade gun (just like the pipe rifle). This seems to have been an early weapon that never made the final cut. Has anyone played around with the zip gun .pro yet ? How could I get the weapon into the game ? Since it has not been entered into any map or script in that game, it does not ever appear. I want to know how I can add it to a player's inventory.
I think, perhaps, that the zip gun was originally planned to take the place of the ever so common 10mm pistol. It would make a lot of sense. I'm trying to remake the .pro archive of the game into something that would reflect 150 years of apocalyptic world without weapons production. (much like as depicted in the Deathlands series of books) Basically, I want to convert most of the early firearms into melee weapons and then convert much of the higher firearms into more common weapons. I would also like to fix some of the gun calibers and such. (idea presented by SKS earlier) I think the weapons change would make the game a bit more difficult... only problem is that I don't know of a way to reduce the amount of ammo found in the game...I guess I could raise the price, but thats not going to stop the ammo from pouring in through encounters
Hmm.. on another note, does anyone have any information regarding a Fallout 2 map editor ? I heard some rumors about one in production, but I have failed to find any info about it. Also, does anyone know of any RPGs that might be similar to Fallout ? I have really loved F1 and F2 too death, but the replay value kinda fades after hundreds of hours of playtime
