Elite Riot Armor, Joshua's or Armor of the 87th Tribe?

First time out of the vault
Well with the release of new armor comes some new critical chance giving armor. Given the fact that The First Recon Beret gives the best for head gear without much competition I wanted to see everyone's opinion on the 3 armors. All are DLC armor so no real advantages there but how I see it, it kinda goes like this.

Elite Riot Armor: Fantastic DT:22, Very stylish. 5% Critical Chance, +10 guns and +1 Charisma.

Joshua's Armor: Good Light armor DT:15, 3% Critical Chance but syncs with Light Touch for 8% total. Very cool as well.

87th Armor: Highest of the 3 DT:23, 3% critical chance at the lowest, +10 Ap which helps devoted vat critical chars.

Oops forgot Ulysses' Duster: lowest DT:13 5% critical chance and syncs with light touch for a total of 10.

Personally I like the Elite Riot Armor. Very cool looking. No commitment to perks or style build while still being useful.

I prefer to use light armor and work the crit chance synergy with light touch and finesse, along with travel light for movement speed.

After playing a couple runs like that, I can't stand how slow the characters move with medium or heavier armor.

Graham's armor does the trick all around for this type of build, and in terms of lower DT you can make up for that from other stuff pretty easily. (toughness, implants, cass's perk and some tequila)

I haven't started Lonesome Road yet, but to me, the biggest advantages to Joshua Graham's armor are (1) it only weighs 8 pounds, and (2) it's so easily repaired with the Jury-Rigging perk.

While point 2) is true, because LR is plentiful with medium-type armor, I find the riot gear to be the best choice.

I've been using the Elite Riot Armor for some time now. It's fantastic. Helmet too, since it can be doubled up with other hats (like the space suit helmet, or the 1st recon beret) to double up on bonuses, for some reason.

Wonder what is causing this helmet bug. Though, I have to say, the elite riot armor helmet in combination with a cowboy hat could look pretty nifty. Just have to fix the damn clipping. :>

At best. I saw Hello Kitty Power Armor mods with more effort put into them.

Mods? The pink power armor was a cut item from FO3, a professionally made item you could get through the GECK.

Might be the colors. It does have that "stenciled in by a 12-year-old" kind of early-1990s neon feel.

The bear head and the star are nice, though.

All it's missing are a killer pair of shades

and maybe some redesigned shoes:

It looks like a fucking toy... That bearhead on the shoulder doesn't help either. It looks like one of those furry/anime/whatever mods one can find on that modpage..

Doesn't help that this is on the Fallout Wiki page for the armor:

"The armor was inspired by a mod made for the PC version of New Vegas. In an interview with Chris Avellone, he said "The armor was something one of the staff members saw, and we thought it would be the coolest thing to put in one of the last add-on for Vegas."

I don't really see the problem. Lots of militaries in history have had uniforms with vivid colours for soldiers not deployed on the frontline.

One thing I don't really like about the 87th Tribe Armor or Scorched Sierra Power Armor is that if you're with Caesar, you have to nuke the CL camp to get the 87th Tribe Armor and vice versa for the NCR. Which makes actual complete 100% rational sense, I know, but I still wish there was another way to (legally; meaning no console commands involved) obtain it. If I'm with NCR and I nuke the CL camp I'm not gonna want to wear their Legate Lanius' armor lookalike.

What? It's furry because it has a bear's head as a shoulderpad, the symbol of the New California Republic? Or is it anime because it has bright colours?

As for its neon-ish look, I get the impression that the rumour that it takes its name from the Sierra Army Depot could be true, thus being high-tech might be the cause of that.
