It Wandered In From the Wastes

Mod for console is a bad idea from right start, now those console user have a taste of it and feel bitter that PC users have better experience.

To solve this "platform discrimination" issue, Beth may:
1. Hard-coded the engine to accept mod/DLC from Bethesda.net ONLY, just to kill off NEXUS.
2. Then, all mods will be priced. Profit: 99% to Beth, 1% to mod creator; Responsibility: 110% to the creator (the extra 10% for fixing those bugs of the vanilla game).
3. To maximize sales and profit (aka, the console users), they will make all mods to be accessable to all platforms. To "guarantee" cross platform compatibility, they will limit the function of CK to the lowest preforming platforms. So everyone are now equal coz there will be no more script extender, no more huge (size >100mb) mods, no more adult mods and of coz, no more custom voiced quest mods.

This may sounds ridiculous and stupid, but by how they dumb down the story for politically correct (non-killable children, too-white-bread moral code on a wasteland.....etc), the stupid dialogue option and control for console....etc. I do have a feeling that Beth will do it like that..................

Good. I hope it kills their shitty engine and someone else picks up the pieces. I am Roshambo reincarnated. If you ever have any doubts just look at where the series came from and where it is now, whether it be Elder Scrolls or Fallout, they both have declined. Really though. They can't kill Nexus.

They can only kill off their fanbase and any modding for their shitty games. Personally, I hope that it goes like this:

Bethesda introduces paid mods and huge limits on type of mods you can play-> modders get angry and quit -> idiots think this good and will gobble this up-> they find out that they cannot play any decent mods like frost and cry-> bethesda orders to shut down nexus because it is taking away their money -> people get pissed off royally and leave bethesda forever -> bethesda and zenimax go bankrupt -> ... -> Profit!

just to kill off NEXUS.
Lol, they can't never do this kind of shit. The Nexus is big and absolutely ordered, unlike that mess beth.net.

All of those steps you mentioned, if they did that, they will effectively kill themselves in the market. The only ones who's going to stand with them would probably be the new fanbase they got, basically non-gamers who had never played anything in their life but curiosity got them due to heavy marketing scheme by Beth/Zenimax. ~90% modders would probably get pissed off and leave beth's modding scene forever, because all of that shenanigans ain't worth it.

Lets say they pop the bubble, all in all it would simply break Bethesda, and send the Fallout IP into obscurity for a good while as they desperately try to cling to its coattails even harder.

Typically when something is drowning, it tends to take everything with it as it sinks deeper. That is exactly what Interplay did, and what I would expect from any other developer.

The only good part of this speculation is that horrible Fallout games will stop being made for a while.

By trying to get rid of the Nexus they'd just shoot themselves in the foot. They must know that mods are the only thing keeping their games alive on PC, and that killing off Nexus way too many modders would leave them. Bethesda games don't work without their unpaid interns horde of modders fixing their crap.

Ask anyone here about the idea of hard-coding the number of dialogue option, and I am sure most responses would be "they'd just shoot themselves in the foot". Yet, they did it.

Non-paying users are worthless, even more worthless than those F2P on MMO. To those publisher and accountants, game live ends when the last paid DLC is shipped. After that, unless Beth have their cut, they won't give a fuck about keeping their games alive on PC or not. And from the shambles of Skyrim paid mod controversy, the paid mod shit will be back and they will also make sure that controversy will never happen again.

Anyone reading Beth's FB page? I do. They are now advertising "feature mods" from bug fix, dialogue UI fix to custom houses like their own product. It just give me creeps. It's like Beth has been totally spoiled by modding community supports.

Let's imagine if Bethesda is KFC.

Last time, you made an order of a box of original recipe chicken meal, what you got was a bucket of boiled chicken, no fries, no salad, no drink, no dressing, just lots of frozen chicken in boiled water. Fortunately, some customers brought in their own drink, chips, favoring, and shared them with everyone. Surprisingly, as their chickens are so tasteless, creative cook can make their own dish out of it, and many customers put their own recipes online. So everyone had a good meal and the sales was good.

The management saw that, so this time, you made an order of an original recipe chicken meal, what you got is nothing but an inedible raw dead mice. The sales team will console you and expect some customers will bring in the drink, chips, and fried chicken for everyone.

For me, Skyrim is the last chicken from Bethesda and FO4 is that fucking dead mice.

Now, FO4 console mod shit just make it more worse, as console players (85+% of their customers) are not happy to be left out of practically all the quality mods that makes that shit not so crap . If the majority of customers are not happy, Beth has to do something. They can either improve the quality of their product, so no mods is still good. Or, they can blame the original modders like that brat, no comparison, no complain.

And that's where my OP comes from, I would say there is a 50% chance that it will happens, and the other 50% is Beth will make it even more worse than that.

Let's hope I am wrong.
