Fallout 2 Restoration Project, how do I save Vault 13/Smart Deathclaws?

I've killed the Enclave Doctor dude, but I haven't gotten to Vault 13 yet.

Anything else I need to do?

Does this save Gruthar and the rest?

I don't want them to do. ;(

The restoration project apparently is supposed to fix the cut 'good' ending for them...

I hope they live! For a giant pack of killer lizards they're one of the friendlier NPC's.

Iirc, even if you kill the doctor, you still only had 2 weeks top from since you leave Vault 13 with the GECK. I always aimed at getting the voice module or whatever from the Vault's supercomputer AND grab the GECK at the same time, and then hit the gas like crazy to San Fran, so I never knew if after 2 weeks the Deathclaws are dead or not.

That's the thing, though. I'm not sure. I even looked up the wiki and I'm still not sure if killing the doctor would place the Deathclaws in absolute safe state. Tell you what, go and try to find out for yourself if the Deathclaws would be fine 2 weeks after you get the GECK. I'm pretty curious if the restored good ending works as intended.

I think I managed to save them before since I recall getting the good ending slide before. I visited them once to get the GECK and made sure to head straight for the Oil Rig (while minimizing the time taken to get there under 7/13 days). Made sure to not visit them again to avoid any triggers.

Not sure if this is the way though.

I've killed the doctor and got the deathclaws, but despite a long time passing, gorris has not left.

I think they're safe!

Its been at least a couple of months, and I've got the geck, and gotten to the tribe.

Well, looks like it doesn't depend on either Goris or the Enclave doctor, it only depends of time between getting the GECK and getting to the oil rig. Maybe will try it out someday, but unlikely, cos' after getting the GECK I do hellovalot of quests here and there, also grind sometimes to get all the perks I need. Enclave's no easy business, after all. But maybe killing that doctor will change something...will report back after I try it out, just completed RP for the first time

I spent like a year travelling around after getting the geck.

If you kill the doctor, they are saved, if not, they die.

Even in vanilla, aren't you supposed to kill the doctor? (although its bugged to always kill the deathclaws)

Yes. Also it's possible to get the cut good ending for them in older Unofficial Patch (1.02.25 or older). Older versions of UP is more like a 'lite version' of RP.

I remember finishing Vault 13 as a stupid character, and pumping the gas to Navarro so I could kill Schreber (I had tagged Repair and actually managed to get it high enough to get the car), but even after I did, when I returned to V13 I got to see the massacre. But I had Goris with me the whole time, and he never gave me the "pack in danger" routine.

I think there are two conditions to be met:
1. Dr Schreber must be dead within two weeks of getting the reward from Gruthar (impossible to do without the car), and
2. You must never return to Vault 13 after those two weeks have passed, even if you killed Schreber.

If you do not kill Schreber and do not get the final reward from Gruthar, you get no ending for V13 at all.
