Before paid mods, there were the 3 DLCs: Pay2Win 1: Robot Companion Factory edition, Pay2win 2: Broken Weapon Enchants, and Pay2play 1: Evil Playthrough.

And before those, there were the Wasteland Workshops, pay2play packs of items that should have been in the base game to begin with.

Remember when some Fallout 4 fan used the FANMADE GECK to create a "Build your own robots" mod that was better than the Automatron DLC AND didn't break the main quest like the DLC did until a patch came out to fix it? It's like Bugthesderp WANTS to go from "Charmingly incompetent" to "Disgustingly scammy and scummy".

I'd argue that Bethesda have been disgustingly scummy since Oblivion. They've never been "charmingly incompetent." Their efforts at streamlining their games towards the lowest common denominator has always contained a sense of smug, self-serving cynicism towards their fans. Oblivion contained ridiculously over-priced DLCs like horse armour; basically microtransactions before they ever became a thing.

Fallout 4 and the Creation Club are ten years of evolution of that greed and contempt for the player. Bethesda have been progressively getting more money-grubbing and their games have been getting more dumbed down. It's really sad.

No it won't. exp is the best teacher and negative user experience is what gets people to boycott a company. EA for example are already doing that to themselves.

Bethesda burned a lot of bridges with F4. I was hyped when I first saw the trailer for it but a few days later when gameplay started coming out - yuk. It's downhill from here because their consumer base now are just casual gamers who like fast action with only the occasional conversation with no real interest in story or deep mechanics and the rest are just literal children that don't know a quality product even if you were to hit them with it.

I already came to the realization Fallout is gone and there won't ever be a good game for it after New Vegas. I'm just glad Obsidian was able to give the franchise a proper sendoff and make a story capable of keeping Bethesda's canon-breaking hands out of the West Coast.

Aye. I guess the stage is set to make a new Fallout, something crowdfunded and designed with the original game's mechanics, or a mix of FNV and F2's. I've been working on something like that, but I'll need a lot more funding, a music guy, and maybe a voice actor or two so I wouldn't be voicing EVERYONE. Then again, voice actors were never really needed, since Fallouts 1 and 2 were based on old games like Wasteland.
