John Gonzalez Returns To Obsidian Entertainment.

People seem to forget it took Bethesda 3 decades to add ladders into their games.

WOAH! That looks amazing! When's this coming out?

Imagine if, in the end, it isn't Fallout: New Vegas 2, but a Fallout game with a different title—say, Fallout: New Texas or something.
That would be funny, and he would technically still be right.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is an aggressively mediocre series. Only being pushed because Hulst is now CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (Actually not anymore, but he is still leading PlayStation’s first-party games). I'm unsure of Gonzalez's role in that game, but even if he is at the height of his powers, one man can't right the ship at Oblivion.
I'm still salty Guerrilla gave up Killzone in favor of this garbage

While I love the aesthetic of the West Coast I think a departure from the treaded path is the right approach at this point. Say the stars align and we get an all-star Fallout dev team without the likes of Urquhart/Howard holding them back, Fallout never was about the Brotherhood and super mutants or even the NCR. How many times are we going to have to fight with or against the Brotherhood while collecting bottle caps while shooting deathclaws?
They'd get some respite from Bethesda's shit and they can tell a new story in a new setting.

What's Urquhart doing (or done) to hold them back?
He has a history of putting Black Isle/Obsidian in shit positions and nearly sinking the company. He's effectively a diva which is an archetype that has been run out of the industry for good reason - they're impossible to work with.
He constantly threatens employees with firing them, he has turned down massive opportunities for Obsidian to develop because of his own ego, he has withheld pay from employees, he even cut Chris Avellone's healthcare while his mother was dying of cancer.
