original American always shows him in a red shirt. This is a weirdly specific - as well as consistent choice. In the Norwegian comics, he had a green shirt throughout the entire run. The google-results however are all about merchandise, t-shirts for sale

Calvin and Hobbes were never syndicalized, to this day. ALL merchandise is illegal. Even Amazon sells faux products that avoid copyright strikes by being poor imitations, while many others sell actual images on shirts. They all get away with it simply because the brand owner is Bill Watterson himself -

and he simply cannot sue them all, it would bankerupt him, and they know it, so they just piss all over him and go right ahead and profit from his work, helped by "fans" who are more than happy to rip him off.

I still keep seeing fans of the comic, expressing dissapointment in that he did not sell out his creation, wishing for toy-lines and animated features. I will never understand this kind of treasonous "fandom"

I was 16 when Calvin and Hobbes ended, and I was deeply saddened, but never for a moment did I object to Bill's justifications. I always understood him, and I always sympathized, even at 16. Why do people do this? Why do people so seek to see their favorite art destroyed and cheapened?
