That is because one hour is the perfect format to tell a story. Thirty minutes is like Power Rangers or some shit. There is a threat. Quick destroy the threat. Episode over.
But 1 hour of Dark tells less story than 1 hour of any other story. And when it's 11 episodes per season, that's 10 hours I have to fit into my schedule just for a tv show.
I have never watcherd Twin Peaks, but everyone was reccomending Dark, and I am almost falling asleep with this thing. Nothing is actually happening, after the first episode everything is just so slow, stuff that was introduced on the first episode has been completely absent for a while, and now there is time travel.
Also, like most modern shows, first scene of the first episode has a graphic sex scene, while the rest of the show is basically sex less. Maximum impact. Those studio notes really become apparent after a while.
