(turns out they are Norwegian invention from 1920s) but holy fucking shit how many pages we had to go through that were nothing but store-fronts - "Want to buy T-shirts!?"

No matter the input, no matter the search criteria - "299,- tank tops!" "399,- tank tops!" "199,- tank tops,-"

Adding words like "history" or "origin" or whatever - zero difference, "History, 199,- NOK buy now!" "Origin, 299,- NOK buy now!" "Whatever, 399,- NOK buy now!"

Google. You were okay. You no longer are.

As always, Wikipedia came to the resque, pictures and everything.

I just searched "wife-beater shirts" on DuckDuckGo and got quite a few nice articles about them on the front page. Including quite a few "What is a Wife Beating shirt" and "Why are white tanktops and t-shirts called wife beaters" and so on.

I rarely use Google these days, unless it's to search for specific niche fantasy images since google images still seem to work better than duckduckgo.

What should I use instead of Google?

I usually use Duckduckgo as my default web searcher. But there are still a few times I will use Google because it still manages to provide better results in some situations, especially when looking for fantasy art images for example (if Duckduckgo doesn't give me any good results in a search, then I try Google).
