No Mutants Allowed

Bannerlord is a bit closer to Crusader Kings. You got clan, dynasty, marriage and your own personal land holding. You need to have horses to upgrade some troops and some top tier ones require different type of recruits altogether. Siege is actually functional with siege weapons and actual wall destruction. Armor system is a bit screwed.

However all of those were based on my impression back in 2020. Things might have changed radically or a bit.

The map is certainly, absurdly bigger (if gigantic than warband). Further there are lots of hint toward multiple continents lore akin to Afro-Eurasia. Some of subfaction in the game came from off-map regions only mentioned. Like the Nord who will rule during Warband time (now they are just mercenaries).

I read this as Bonerlord. I need glasses.

@TorontoReign Only in this game, that gamers find that their character mother-in-law being hotter than the daughter they marry. Also the nature of Clan/Dynasty mechanic surely encourage you to marry and acquire lots of holdings.

How many hours do you have in the series by change? I feel like you might enjoy a game like that. I might too depending on how it runs.

It's way longer than in Kingdom Come Deliverance. I dunno, maybe because it's vast scale and more than just fighting game. You can literally manage trading caravan and production centre in this game. If you have powerful PC to play this game..oh well.

For reference, I spent 45-60 hours playing Kingdom Come Deliverance, only stopped because of a bug. And all I can say about Bannerlord is that the modding community would make you play even more longer.

My main concern was frying the 'puter. Guess I don't *have* to get it (rig is bout 15 years old now) - def not buying a whole new rig for _one_ game :V and this not the sort of game I'll play on a console.
How does gameplay compare to Warband? Part of why I loved Warband was the strict adherence to sandbox, where the entire canon is what you make up as you go

Dude, Warband doesn't allow you to have fun sieges. Or "herding" feudal armies together, actually convincing them to follow you and battle. Bannerlord does have it's own canon. Like lore surrounding the titular object and actual "Main Quest". Won't spoil it though.

The only thing that I hate in Bannerlord is that game is such lamellar armor fest. I miss chainmail and some plate armor.

@TorontoReign good idea, wait later and you will even get better mods! :D
This time, designed around actual finished version.

Bannerlord does acknowledge time progression. Your character can age and when they died, you play as one of your children or clanmember with highest opinion. It's like playing as migratory tribe or something rather than single character.

And yeah there's sandbox mode.

Interesting, like Sims with lamellar armor. Not sure if these innovations - interesting as they are - will clash with my already established idea of M&B - I might just be completely enfatuated with that exact game, the map, I'd sometimes just spend hours riding back and forth the sarranid deserts

I did enjoy "Fire and sword", I loved fine-tuning my skill at ka-poof-ing lead bullets behind a thick, white cloud of smoke - real unique charm, but it teetered on dislikeable - I'm very particular sometimes :D

@zegh8578 I bet you like to play with lots of Swedish soldier in Fire and Sword. You know, herd and order them. Like you do with slaves.

Really? By that logic, you must - ahem - *clears throat* LOVE to play as The English : )
