Did you play Civ 3? They had these mega-stacks of "barbarian uprising", each one of their moves took like a full second of all their units re-stacking closer and closer to some city. I'd rarely afford more than 2 defending units per town, so, they typically looted a town whenever it happened

its not just uprising now, its a fucking warband of horse archer and battering ram. Yeah the game actually gives a clue to kill any barbarian Scout ASAP, there is actual AI path in this, if the scout could make it way into their camp; its just worse

@zegh8578 but...
Barbarians got you down? Why not play more games as GLORIOUS KING GILGAMESH?! Mighty Sumeria needs no puny scouts or warriors with the magic of donkey carts. 4 movement on open terrain! Beefy strength gained by lifting with King Gilgamesh himself!

Ohhh, I misread VI as V, I haven't tried VI yet. Huh. I kinda liked in Civ4 though, where barbarians settled cities, that - over time - would become proper nations. If barbarians now are so tactical, it would make sense to return to that mechanic, allowing them to develop into nations over time?

Excellent promotions for turning barbarian camps into a bearded man that gives you faith! Barbarians cannot frustrate you if they are wiped off the map! Try Sumeria today!

yeah i thought it would be excelent if any barbarian that 'civilized' were turned into kind of random generated civ.

How does the game compare to prev titles? Screenshots look very... puffy and plastic-ish, as expected. I've never been a big fan of that. Prefer the feel from 3 and older, where the landscape looks distant, giving more dimension to the game world
