They love doing that shit where they affect their voice to be all raspy like they are about to cry when saying a lot of the one dimensional dialogue to trick the player into thinking what they are saying is emotional. Pretty trite voice directing in general.
Because they've validated that opinion via echo-chambers. On the topic of FO4's VA, Stephen Russell's talents was quite wasted thanks to how little dialogue there actually was (and due to the poor writing).
Nick Valentine, the cringiest, most one dimentional character that fooled people into thinking he was well writting based on voice the charismatic actor, to me, the voice acting on Valentine was pretty grating as they pushed the transparent "old timey detective nya" thing too blatantly.
Nick is rather bland (after his gimmick wears off plus pre-War ghul) which is why I think having Russell voice him was a waste of the VA's talent as evident from the classic Thief games.
