This makes dinosaur evolution more intriguing, since we are judging dinosaur classification entirely on superficial visual cues, something we know - looking at extant birds and mammals - is entirely insufficient, and often misleading

And, for fun, we all know apes and monkeys are cousins of humans, but ever given any thought to what's our next closest relatives? Closest next to primates are these little gliding squirrel like animals, and next to those are the group of "glires", as in, bunnies and rodents.

To me, what's most interesting, is the lack of an apparent "narrative" in evolution. I've said before - the human brain, our psyche, our physical neural connections - prefer a "narrative", a comprehensive story, that makes sense, with a beginning and end. People who aren't into biology love to misunderstand evolution, and use it in politics: Nature favors "the strong"!
