it's not. The devs have said that it is going to be a series of linear & non-linear levels.

Okay never played a metro game. Was just told it was open world. I guess if there non linear there has to be some open worldness to it. Or how will that work. It will be interesting to see.

Last Light had some sections that were non-linear. It's like a mini open world level within a linear game.

Yeah that makes sense but if now the side question are non-linear I guess that will make the game less linear. I am guessing the story missions are all the same however when you take them has been changed. If that makes any sort of sense

There are really not enough informations out yet to say how what it really will be. Like Kad said, all there is are the developers quotes.

They were clearly showing us that the game will be taking place outdoors a lot to hint it will be more open. I don't think it will go full Farcry open world but a middle ground.

There is scavenging and crafting... It may not be completely open world but it is picking up bad habits from its open world cousins.
