That is actually a pretty good solution to the size issue. Provided that it works. Should town zones have "invisible borders" to prevent people to wander to far outside of it? And you could actually make the townsize to be actual size as well. So rip the fallout 1 talking head dialogues...

I have been under my rock, where else? No, but srsly. I know the state of TB combat (in RPGs), but I still miss it. And I really miss it in Fallout.

Why do they want us to accept it as a substitute? It worries me that more games will follow with this...bastardization. I like the VATS mode, but I weep for the turnbased combat loss.

Dogmeat Intelligence doesn't need to be Einsteiny. Even the most stupid dog can size up its enemy. So if Dogmeat sees a Behemoth or a Deathclaw, he runs away. Period. And when he's hurt, as suggested. But basic "pack" hunting behavior would be nice. Flank, bite retreat, find new position, flank...
