General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

The first Witcher has this genuine eastern european folklore/fairy tale vibe to it. It's quite unique and I really enjoyed it, as it felt so much different to generic fantasy settings. The Witcher 2 is sort of a hybrid, a semi-open-world. During Geralts journey you can explore various areas. I...

What are your favorite open ended/sandbox games?

Probably I'm stretching it a bit, yeah. But in CK2 you can pretty much do what you want, so it's also kind of a sandbox.

What are your favorite open ended/sandbox games?

Definitely Crusader Kings II. After getting a hang of all the gameplay mechanics, it totally sucks you in.

Things we learned from Fallout 4

A reboot wouldn't surprise me at all. It would even be like a new game for a lot of people.

We need a Sci-Fi Space RPG! Fantasy is saturated.

You should take a look at Jade Empire then. It isn't Japan, but you won't find a lot of or any RPGs with a medieval asian setting made by western studios.

General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Do you own the Enhanced Edition? The release version of the Witcher was quite unpolished, but the EE fixed a lot of issues. Possible solutions: 1) Try to disable AA in-game and enable it in catalyst control center instead. 2) Force VSync on in Nvidia control panel/Catalyst control center. But in...

General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

I paused Fallout Tactics for the time being and started with the Banner Saga 2. Really enjoying it so far.

The New Obsidian: Josh Sawyer appointed to studio Design Director role

Reading through the codex thread makes it seem as if an evil overlord took over Obsidian or something. I'm glad that he got the job and I'm confident that Obsidian will keep on delivering good RPGs.

Any point in increasing non-combat skills?

I'm about to start my first playthrough. As Fallout Tactics seems to be some sort of Jagged Alliance in the Fallout universe, I'm wondering if there's any point in increasing non-combat skills like science, speech and so on. What do you guys think/recommend?

    Suicide missions

Absolutely. Keep a specialist around for those tasks.

    Suicide missions

It's been a while since I played it, but the game seems to be quite unforgiving on hard, right? I can't remember having real problems on my normal playthrough (but I also tried to avoid battles and go the diplomatic way if possible). Anyways, some inputs: 1) Did you try to use the entrance area...

General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

There are some consequences. How much spoilers? I finished Fallout 2 yesterday. This time without entering the oil rig guns blazing. It was odd that I got the 'bad' ending for Broken Hills. My char managed to uncover the conspiracy and find the missing people. :???: Now I'm a bit undecided...

Introduce yourself! AKA the "Say hello" thread

At least both sides are very passionate about their favourite games. ;)

Does anyone remember significant backlash for Arcade and Veronica?

In that matter the series reached its climax in Dragon Age 2, where pretty much all companions were bisexual (besides two or three exceptions).

Skip New Reno completely - Still acceptable level in endgame?

Thanks for the info. That was exactly what I wanted to know.

Skip New Reno completely - Still acceptable level in endgame?

So, what do you guys think? There should be enough XP around besides New Reno to assemble an decent endgame character, right? The Wrights have slaves working for them. Goody two shoes and and the Wrights won't be friends.

Things we learned from Fallout 4

Wait... there are actual vampires in Fallout 4? A FEV mutation or something, I guess? :-)

Skip New Reno completely - Still acceptable level in endgame?

Of course my guy helped with the orphanage in the Den. In New Reno however you could argue, that the Wrights are somehow 'the good guys' but in the end they are still part of the system, as they supply the other families with alcohol and so on. And I'm not seeing my character involved in any...

Skip New Reno completely - Still acceptable level in endgame?

In my current playthrough I'm trying to play a guy with a strict moral code. Now I reached New Reno and this is pretty much a hive of scum and villainy. So I'm considering to skip the whole place and continue my journey to the NCR. Now I'm wondering: By skipping New Reno I'm leaving out a lot...
