Actually Nasa have already made such a laser to destroy space junk.
so it is there and i think it is working.

Get this: I heard that Taco Bell is putting a large ring out in the Pacific Ocean, and if Mir lands in it, everyone in the US gets a free taco.

Of course, the ring is only a few miles wide, so Mir has virtually no chance of landing in it. What an advertising campaign! Ha!

Considering the amount of money they are putting into it, you can be pretty sure it's reliable.
Just for the record : Holland is also involved in the ISS. Some robotic arm is designed by Fokker.
