ahh so that's how you spell populous. I was wondering about that. My opinions flux daily. Some days I feel I care about issues the next day I feel it would all be better if the world nuked itself. But actually I don't think I would like to live in a post apocolyptic landscape, scrounging around for non radioactive food. I do so like my creature comforts.
Personally, I did lots of drugs, then I went to rehab. Now I don't do any (well except for caffine, nicotine, sugar, salt, t.v.and computer games.) So In actuallity I'm torn on the issue of drugs. Yes, I don't want little kids doing drugs. Yes, I think they should be legall.
I think alot of money is wasted on these "campaigns". Money that could be sheltering or feeding, our own country. We get involved in other countries affairs to often and seem to overlook our own. I'd like to see some major changes but I don't know where to look. I keep searching for the cheat codes but I can't find any.
Ahh uninformed people..I have lots of those in my family. But then again people that are too informed seem too intense or too opinionated. (that looks weird. too many tu-tu's) I like people with lots of ideas. "When your on drugs you think you have lots of ideas but then it turns out it was all the same idea." Who said that?

yeah I threw "populous" in way to loosly. But I do beleive in chaos and anarchy. No there is no real threat of a society totally based on either principle, it couldn't survive. But there are nice little outbreaks of it in some countrys everyday. September 11th being a good example of chaos. No it wasn't an earth shattering, people biting heads off, surfing skinhead zombie mutants from mars kind of chaos, but it existed. And for one millisecond everyone in america thought. "hmm, maybe I should go to the grocery store." And for one second all of america was united. Then we turned off our televisions and went back to work the very next day and said to ourselves "well I should donate some money to make myself feel better" But wasn't it nice the week to two weaks after that? Everyone was a little more friendly, a little more generous. People you hadn't heard from for years all of a sudden e-mailed you or called you. A month goes by and the same people are flicking you off as you drive down the street. Maybe a big human problem is we are way too adaptable. We have no way of knowing what "normal living" should be because we deal with chaos everyday and it becomes normal. Earth could actually be hell and we've all just adjusted to it. So the only way to live in a world that isn't chaotic would be to know everything. And if everyone knew everything there is to know about anything, there wouldn't be any reason for us to exist.
Deep thoughts by jack handy.

well enough about that. Back to playing morrowind. I like the game but I wish it had more humor.

So one out of every five dead people died from smoking.
That doesn't sound bad enough to raise taxes through the roof for smokes and then pour it into a campaign to try to keep youngsters from smoking, who by the way are going to want to smoke more because of all the anti-smoking television adds. What makes anyone want something more is if they can't have it. Think about what you wanted most when you were a kid. I wanted the star wars Death Star. Remember that it was like 200 dollers or maybe it was one of those order it by buying everything else toys. So that's what I wanted. It was the same thing with trying drugs. What's all the hipe about I thought. Guess i'll try it. Then I liked it. Then I found out my other friends were in the process of trying them. Then we became a gaggle of druggies and moved to Champaign-Urbana, ill. Then we found a shop that sold old toys and we bought the deathstar. no moral just a story. So if people don't like smoke just buy some pepper spray and shoot it at your nearest smoker. As for me I'm a gonna keep on smokeing and if it becomes illegal to smoke I'll just have to buy them from japan on the black market or from the corner smoke dealer for a doller a ciggerette.
Did you actually roll your eyes at the computer? Lots of people like to roll there eyes at me while saying tchhh! And all I can do is stand there with a dopey grin on my face because I can't respond to tchhh!

I'm a pragmatist. If it kills one in five Americans every year I really don't care. What I *do* care about is the fact that these people are costing the USA a LOT of money in healthcare. Hell, the healthcare costs prompted Florida to sue the tobacco industry for healthcare costs.

Smoking is a case where discrimination is permissible. Yes, single them out, force them into their special sections and make everything insurance to the cost of cigarettes overpriced for them. What is the best way to remove a product/practice from use? Tax it. It happens with industrial products like aspestos and freon, and it is being applied to cigarettes. And why shouldn't it? A pack of cigarettes costs the USA $7 in economic loss per pack, that loss should be heaped upon the backs of the people who cause it. Smoking is a blight upon society. I am fortunate enough to live in a state that has a very low concentration of smokers compared to other states and still the remaining smoke that fills the air is annoying. The less smoke I have to smell or hold my breath while walking through, the better.

>What

They can have it, just have it at an extra high price. Money will always be the deciding factor when it comes to people actually buying stuff. Cigarettes provide a relatively small high for their price so people may go looking elsewhere for their buzz. At least the "elsewhere" drugs aren't carcinogenic.

Kids continue to join the ranks of smokers because of one reason: They think it makes them cool. The habit is incredibly hard to start, it doesn't provide a huge buzz, and quite frankly, everyone knows that it is bad for you. This is where the anti-smoking ads are going wrong: They're talking about the health hazards when nobody really cares. They want kids to stop smoking? Make it look uncool.

Until then, they should keep taxing it until we've made up our economic losses from the pocketbooks of the smokers.

Which is, really, a bad way to do it. It's not the tobacco industry's fault that there's people puffing their life away and their lungs out. Sure, it's really bad for you and everything, but that's some people's choice that they can do, and if they smoke away from others, thank you for not getting it in my face. The common formaldehyde crap cigarettes I can't stand...I still do occasionally smoke a pipe, but those cigarettes are just nasty.

Back onto topic...it's the SMOKER'S problem that it causes health problems. I really like Dennis Leary's rants on this subject. It would take a complete retard to figure that they aren't bad for you, so suing the tobacco industry isn't the right thing to do unless they do add in something new and very harmful. But if it's just for cigarettes in general, that's bullshit...but the cigarette manufacturer's do have a lot of money.

Now there's a new law in California, one that's the epitome of the "not MY fault!" laws and lawsuits. It involves guns, and making the gun manufacturer's liable for crimes committed with the guns. I hope from what I heard about it turns out to be wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if that bullshit was true.

I feel the same way, it was just an example of how much the health costs are adding up. It is like that stupid suit where a university professor is suing McDonalds for making kids obese because "McDonalds lures kids in with toys they can only get by buying the food and they don't know about how much fat is in the food." The responsibilty is being heaped on the wrong people. In this case it is the *parents'* fault, not McDonalds. It isn't like the *kids* have the money to buy food. In the case of cigarettes, the burden should be placed on the smokers themselves.

I'm not opposed to that, but unfortunately they take a toll on the healthcare system even if they're not in the same proximity as you.

Well Florida is suing the tobacco companies simply because they have the money to be sued for. It is impossible to sue the individual smokers themselves, plus it looks bad. In the end it does end up "suing the smokers" since the tobacco companies will just recoup their losses by increasing the price of cigarettes.

I wonder how much effect it will have, seeing that I would expect most guns used in crime aren't bought legally. But that law is basically the same as the law against McDonalds, completely groundless at the core.

Oh, of course. America, the land of "Not MY fault, not MY problem!"

>I'm not opposed to that, but

Solution below.

>Well Florida is suing the tobacco
>companies simply because they have

>to sue the individual smokers

Not really. Their coffers are great as it is. All they need to do is play the waiting game and keep the prices low. That way they have more customers and purchases, making more money to build back up the coffers. They also do look better to the cigarette users that don't care about the lawsuits.

To penalize the users of smoking would be a better idea. Get it through to people that if you're going to purposely ruin your lungs with formaldehyde and a lot of other crap, then you're not going to get coverage for it. Or that you get less coverage overall.

Hence for some HMOs, if you're a smoker, they will not cover certain things. Just don't cver it if they decide to fuck themselves up. Wonder why most life insurance companies won't cover stunt men and daredevils? Exactly why.

>I wonder how much effect it

Yeah...but if it's stolen, it will just point out the true idiocy of this law. "Oh, you used an S&W to do this? Then it's S&W's fault!" The real aim of this is to perhaps make gun companies shy from Cali.

I agree totally that a person should take responsabliity for their own actions. I smoke but i'm not going to try to sue somebody because i've known about cancer since I was kid and even started smoking. I can't remember why I started smoking, no one else did. I just liked it.
But they came out with reports in the 50's that smoking was bad for you and that's why my grandpa quit. So people should have been aware that it wasn't good for you.
If a person is fooled by a slick advertising campaign then that person is just ignorant. Most people just can't own up to their own mistakes wich to me is just weird. If a person is going to do something they should at least have the balls to back it up. Don't go blaming society or your parents for what happens. It was your mistake. You can be whatever kind of person you want to be in this life, it's your choice.

Well this is my opinion:
- I buy lots of CD and Cassette because i got their MP3 first. After listening an MP3 version of Hotel California i buy a cassette. After listening Santana's Supernatural i bought his cassette. After listening Frank Sinatra i buy his CD....
- Well. I got Rammstein MP3 because they didn't sell that in my country!!! If i going outboard i'll purchase one. Also i search my hometown for months but they said: "Sorry, we don't sell Rammstein in Indonesia." What about that? How the hell i supposed to get a legal CD and Cassette if they didn't sell that here and they blocked all On-line shopping channel to Indonesia!!!
- Last i hear the US Music industry lost about $20 million by the piracy. But their total profit about $20 billion dollars!!! What a sellfish!!
-We must also blame those company who create portable MP3 player and MP3 cell phone!! Without them people will still buy CD and cassette for their Walkman and CDMan and listening MP-3 only from computer.
