A bit of propaganda

Nah, an exclamation point has the dot at the bottom, not the top (unless you're writing in Spanish). It's probably a colon, drawing attention to the picture on the right which illustrates the quote, however little you can see of it.

I think it's a nice idea for a poster, if imperfectly executed.

Not too bad, kind of Fallouty. My gripes have already been mentioned. The armor is fugly, and the whole scene just looks awkward.

It's a colon because the full poster has Enlist Today beneath it. Here's the poster on the bus.

I'm gonna disagree on what you said. Old US propaganda was was based on 1/3 patrioticism 1/3 hatred and 1/3 fear. Check out this little number.

Maybe I wasn't being clear. I wouldn't care if the subtext (or even supratext) of this fictional ad was "Oh no, America's in trouble... we'd better stop the Yellow Menace!" In fact, it would fit excellently.

The issue I take is that it looks like Uncle Sam's down and out. Try and look for ads from WWII or the Korean War where symbols of the U.S. look as downtrodden as this Uncle Sam, besides those where (in the ads) the other side's already won. Go ahead....

Yea, not many. That was my point. Rosie the Riveter, this Uncle Sam ain't.

What the fuck are you talking about?

That's an exclamation mark.

Do you write exclamation marks like this '¡' ? There's a gap under the dot.

The top part is clearly bigger than the bottom.

Ah-hah!

That pic should clear up a few doubts.

Still looks awkward for a propaganda poster, tho'.

Because the image is clipped, Stag, ya 'tard.

Agreed. Maybe if they were shaking hands, or (*LIGHTBULB*) both pulling on a rope! Maybe Russians are on the other end, or they're pulling something out of the mud, etc.

dont mean to nitpick but that is a really strange pose for both

really really strange

i also think it would have worked better as an ad in colour rather then the green screen effect

Anybody else notice the PA guy's hands are drawn pretty awkwardly?

The whole thing looks more like an unfinished scribble than proper game art.

Look at Uncle Sam's pose. Would you hold your head like that when you're being helped up? And is he actually lying on the ground or something? It nearly looks as if the PA guy is STANDING on him and tearing his arm off (note also that the PA guy's helping hand looks to be open, rather than closed around Uncle Sam's).

These guys are PROFESSIONALS. They're being paid for this. They do this for a living.

The quality would be acceptable for fan art -- and even fan artists tend to show drawing skills superior to that tripe.

Where's Wooz' critical eye for crappy art when you need it?

Nice find Anani!

Anybody know what that circle-enscribed triangle with some symbol inside, in the lower right corner of the poster, is? Some prewar govermental propaganda agency, or something more from the Fallout universe?

Yep, that's the old logo (same image radnan has as his avatar).

However, is it because of the picture quality (or my eyes) that it doesn't look like "CD" what is written down there? Morelike CP or something similar.

i'll make a wild guess and suggest that the poses are so awkward because they were composed not built in a traditional way

rant follows:

note how the face is in the same front staring angle as the generic unkle sam from the "i want you..." poster. i suspect that whoever drew it just gathered pictures from the web composed the shot cutting and pasting and painted over....

which is sad considering that there are a lot of free online books for Figure Drawing which teach you how to build up a pose and offcourse there are rules in figure drawing for wierd front angles that must be followed.

Dont like the power armour... the head/helmet is far to big! it looks like a caricature
