A mod for testing purposes?

First time out of the vault
Hello.

I was wondering if there's any third party mods out there for the purpose of testing things without necessarily having to play the game by yourself.

Specifically, somekind of teleporting tool to move you to the position where certain NPC is located. Like 'coc' console command for Gamebryo adaptation of Fallout.

Nothing released, afaik. People tend to build their own debugging scripts.

in ddraw.ini there is a setting that allows you to start the game at a location other than aroyo I believe.

I think in the save editor you can also edit your location on the world map and place yourself somewhere that you want.

You might also be able to speed up movement on worldmap significantly and reduce random encounters by editing ddraw.ini, causing you to move fast wherever you want safely. You can also use cheat engine to speed the game further. This way you can get around quickly to whatever npc you are looking for.

No major debug tool, as lexx said.

;A key to press to open a debug game editor
;Set to 0 to disable, or a DX scancode otherwise
;Requires sfall debugging mode and FalloutClient.exe from the modders pack
DebugEditorKey=0

Most of the total conversions don't start with the temple of trials or any equivalent, meaning that you can get straight to the point.

I've found the record, and it says I need to type the map file's name that I want it to be loaded when I start a new game.
Code:
;To start a new game somewhere other than artemple.map, uncomment the next line and set it to the map you want to load
;StartingMap=
My destination is the Den. Is "denbus1.map" the command I'm looking for?

Excuse me, what? I have no idea what you're on about.

Installing a total conversion mod only for the purpose of testing out something about the NPC in the game is a bit overkill, I think.
And... Doesn't total conversion usually modify the base game to the point there would be completely different areas and such? I want to see if the things I've modify would work in base game status. Doesn't that defeat the purpose?

I tried using that debugger and even I couldn't figure out how to use it!

Johnny I don't know what you wanna do exactly but from the impression I've gotten, I think your best bet is doing the following:

- Increase worldmap movement speed in ddraw.ini
- reduce encounter rate.
- Start a new game in temple.
- save the game and edit your save file using the save file editor
- with save editor increase your damage threshholds, increase your health, increase your action points, increase all your skills, specially outdoorsman.
- then quickly run through the temple and skip all the fights. and just finish the temple.
- steal a little money and then enter save editor again and increase the money to a very high number. Now go to den and buy some guns, and you're free to move around now.

You can also use this save file I have for testing. This save file is from RPU v16 and sfall 4.2.7. So its compatible with that or later versions. If you have those installed then you can just use this save file. I have not even talked to anyone yet other than some shop keepers. So might be of use to you.
