A Preview of Things To Come?

sigh, my free subscription expires and they release a cool article for once... just my luck :-\. But aye, the graphics look quite impressive.

Scans of it will bo around soon enough I bet.

And I hope FO3 wont require TO much of a l33t PC, otherwise Im out of luck til I upgrade (current PC is about as old as FO2)

Speaking of new games and system requirements, I was glad to see that Elixer's newest game, Evil Genius, was less graphically intensive than their first one, Republic.

Wow, holy shitballs!!! This is screen captured from ingame engine. Ok, nevemind the armor and the castle, but look at the horse and the immpression on the dude's face. Oh wait, does it changes or he'll be wearing that funny grinn whole game never changing it?!

Well I don't know.. I hope it doesn't go like in Deus Ex2 and Thief 3.
Those games were totally ruined for me because THEY FUCKING LOOKED WORSE THAN THEIR PREQUELS DE1 and Thief 2, and they even ran crappier than the prequels.

Maybe they would've looked better if I'd have a computer from year 2009, but too bad it's from 2001.
Ok, have to admit the graphics were nice when turned to the max, but I don't like to play with the "slideshow"-mode.

So I had to turn the graphics to the lowest settings, that made the games look like total shit. (and i'm not even going to mention the frequent loading the maps required...)

Why did they have to ruin it. :(
And I hope they won't ruin it for the new Morrowind.
I like to play the games when they are released, not after four years when it's possible to afford a computer running these games.

I see no reason to doubt the veracity of that shot, just keep in mind the looks of games on current generation engines, like doom 3, Half life 2 and vampires. Seeing as this game is still quite far from release, i never doubted it would look that good (not to lessen the merits of the bethesda guys, just hope it runs relatively better than morrowind's engine)

People asking about game requirements, just shut up. First it's too soon to say anything specific about that, and if you have a pc over 2 years old (say, anything less than a GF4 ti), just give up about not needing to upgrade.

And last, just imagine if the engine can manage this level of detail this close up, how great it would look from an isometric perspective !

I run a P4 2.4 Gig. Play Doom 3 as smooth as butter (low res) but Thief 3 looks like a bitch (and yes, Thief 2 runs better and looks far better than Thief 3). However, the story of Thief 3 is worth it. Ion Storm managed to pull off an interesting (and well-written) tale.

I personally consider Morrowind to be far better looking than Doom 3 too. Morrowind also runs better for me than Doom 3 in the higher resolutions. I have confidence that Bethesda will make a great looking game both for Elder Scrolls IV and Fallout 3.

What I doubt is their ability to make Fallout 3 a good Fallout game. That's not out of spite. Fallout 1 is one of those games which I remember fondly (Fallout 2's ending sucked though, so hey). What I hope is they can make an enjoyable turn-based, super looking, great playing, well-written story, Fallout 3. I've played plenty of FPS. It's time for a decent turn-based, isomteric game for me.

Those aren't mag scans, but pictures of the mag taken with digital camera, so quality is kinda shitty, but you can get some insight on how it looks.

** Removed beacuse of copyright laws **

And well, it looks better then doom3. :)

I hope posting mag scans is not prohibited here.

although it doesnt say much about the point of view of future games based on the engine, it does look pretty improbable that they would use such an engine for isometric...

marketing wants to show off the pretty pictures because pretty pictures sell games!

Thanks Zajcew.

The graphics look pretty good. but then Ive seen nearly as impressive graphics on an OLD game that my 64MB RAM shitbox can run (barley, and with lag) so who knows.

Thanks Zajcew, we still need scans but that helps

What we really need is some normal, high-rez pictures, avialable like any onther screenshot. It is beyond me why did Bethesha gave those screens to some game mag and not release it on their web site for anybody to admire. I havent read the article in that mag, but I'm sure it's 12 pages of licking betheshas ass...

If it's anything like the shameless ass sucking performed for F:POS, then expect some Bethesda developers to start walking around with some ugly hemorrhoids and two tongues.

Game Informer, especially the online content, is about as media whore as you can get. Frankly, a number of their reviewers have me baffled as to how they ever figured out how to leave the womb. But then I have to remember about Cesarean delivery. Just our luck that we now have to deal with them when they, in retrospect, would have performed a "Butterfly Effect" or have left their amateur efforts in fast food.

Perhaps I am reading this the wrong way, but look at the quote on the right side of the second picture "the most amazing graphics the console gaming world has ever seen." Bethesda's true thrust for Elder Scrolls 4?

Well, I cropped it, so people can take a look for themselves. I believe the full quote would read: "Without a doubt, the most amazing graphics the console gaming world has ever seen." Which would be the wrong tense, considering the game has yet to come out, thus the console gaming world really hasn't seen it.

One important point, Kotario - which number of dozens is that hype whore bullshit? That is just a small aspect of their problems. Check the online content of their site, especially the F:POS reviews.

I don't need to spend $20 a year to read their incompetence in print when the humor is plainly available online. I'm not a tree-hugger or anything like that, but I understand the waste in using resources for garbage. The "Second Opinion", which is usually nothing more than a sloppy-second fellating of the same points raised in the initial review, raises the current number of total confirmed idiots at Game Informer to at least three. The two that did the review for FOT seemed to have retreated back to the comforts of fast food, especially when they were found to be too retarded to figure out how to set the firing selections so your squad wouldn't shoot each other so often.

Amazing, isn't it? Stupid people can actually get people a little lower on the evolutionary ladder to pay them money for crap without any credible work put behind it.

I don't buy gaming magazine as I'd only end up reading like, 1 page.... that's not worth £5

I'd rather buy something useful
