A trip to Chernobyl

Post Nuclear

Here's a very interesting link tha someone posted on the SSE forums about the Chernobyl area- it goes several pages, but it's mostly pictures. A quote: "Radiation sit on earth, on the grass, in apples and mushrooms. It is not on asphalt, which make rides through this area safe." and "marauders in radiation poluted area are not just a regular marauders, they don't steal stuff for themselves. There were cases of radiactive tv sets and other stuff being sold on city second hand markets and then police shot 7 or 8 of them and it helped "

It's really great!

I would like to travel once to that dead city to feel Fallout a bit. That's quite realistic, cause I live relatively near that area.

Wow.

That was neat. I'd like to visit that town some day. It has that feeling like in 28 Days Later, where he's completely alone. Spooky.

Cool link.

Yeah, it's spooky but yet in some strange way kind of cool.

Damn... that girl has some guts! I'm not sure if I would go there willingly. Anyway, I found that pic with the doll to be pretty spooky too. Remember when it happened, was not until some years ago you were advised to eat fish from the Baltic sea.

All I can say is, WOW! Those pictures of the city are amazing! I wish there were more. I have an infatuation with evil clowns and abandoned cities and towns, just imagine if there were some killer clowns walking the streets! Total greatness!

I really would love to go there, just being poisoned would be a pretty crappy souvenir.....

Mohrg

Yeah, priceless radioactive "loot" in an abandoned workers' town. See those buildings?
Treasures beyond human perception, worth any endeavour. Like the Plastic Handbag of Darkness or the Ancient Matress +5. Plus, there's dragons.

If I ever do go there, I'm bringing a gieger counter.

Makes you realize that the radiation is more deadly than the explosion when it comes to nukes.

Though I bet there's lots of loot lying around in that city.

This answer your question (from the article)?

Marauders

Marauders in radiation poluted area are not just a regular marauders, they don't steal stuff for themselves. There were cases of radiactive tv sets and other stuff being sold on city second hand markets and then police shot 7 or 8 of them and it helped

Who is going to buy this stuff don't know anything about its origins... I don't think people carry a geiger counter when they are shopping. So you can sell this stuff without any problem. hmm. How much is a NBC suit? I'm going to.... :look: errr.... visit that place. That's it. Visit it.

Just for anyone who wants to visit this place too:

Safer America has everything a fanatical doomsday cult needs.

True, although it's very expensive, and most of those suits didn't shield you from radiation (although Demron looked interesting). Perfect for an incredibly rich and bored person to go play Fallout for real or something.

The NBC suit i have is nothing more than a placibo if i hit a radiated area...

Now as far as Bio-Chemical protection it's great. as long as you wear it correctly, and dont mind the pools of sweat that develop in the gloves and in your boots.

Tell you what, we buy some of that equipment, maybe a bullet resistant undershirt, then we go to The Glow and if we don't find the Holy Grenade of Antioch then we can just loot all those radioactive goodies, who cares they are 18 years old in the least? I'm sure that glow in the dark antiques are quite hip these days  .

Great and disturbing picts. The terrain is very tactics and desolate. I find the overview of the high rise estate particularly interesting. I didn't really understand what was meant by 'glowing
'.
Poor bastards, but such disasters could happen to anyone. Tough luck
