A trip to Chernobyl

Do you remember the place in FO1 they called the glow, that place took a direct hit from a nuke so it was glowing... In Chernobyl the nuclear reactor kind of melted down, and that is when it glowed, in all it's post nuclear magnificence...

Seriously, I doubt that radioactive particles would glow, although the decay of certain elements certainly emits a photon of light. We all know that radiaction is glowing green in fallout, but I would not take 50s pop as reality.

Anyone know what colour radioactive decay is in real life, if it creates a glow at all.

Yes, it creates glow. Why does it create glow? Because there's photon(gamma)-radiation. Gamma radiation is simply the expelling of a photon.

The color of the glow will then depend on the energy of the photon(ie. the frequency)/

dont think this one in particular has been posted before, no, but a lot of these have been posted.

still, always nice to look through the pics.

This one has been posted before, here, but it was more than two years ago and the link in that thread is down, so it's understandable you couldn't find it in a search.

Still cool.

If that redneck attack was real then they got what they deserved. Also I noticed the rednecks were driving a Toyota pick up truck, which is kinda unbeliveable.

Ghost Town and Land of Wolves + more.

The searchs i ran found a few hits for this from some time back so i thought i would resurrect Elena Filatovas motorbike journey and travelogue across the Chernobyl wasteland once again.

I find this a genuinely interesting read coupled with impressive pictures. Aimed at anyone who visits here and never found this site and those here that allready know it and just want to peek again.
