While the ESRB rating is still pending, for some reason the Fallout 3 page now requires age verification for access. If you're not at least 16 years old (or at least admit to that), you might end up here

Presumably they're prepping to show mature content on the site.
Since Zenimax's lawyers are in fact evil devil spawn, they can no doubt foresee all legal outcomes including a veritable shitstorm if they show zomg blood! without a warning.

Noticed that too.
I agree it has to do with possible blood or violence like that, though it should be obvious, as we're talking about Fallout.

Interesting enough, seems like the age verifier nestles a cookie on your system if you admit being underage (mistake or not).

As far as the reasons behind it, I blame the Hula dancer and the naked female pillar statues in the teaser!

P.S.: Anyone noticed the Nuka Cola in the teaser?

yes, it's the Nymph encounter.

you got a dialog telling you "You feel drained..." or something like that after the encounter was over.

The master Odin!

Ugh, now to clear my cookies... This better mean dirty cats paw magazines *shakes fist*

Actually, I think this is very nice info indeed. This means that FO 3 for sure (or something like that 8)  ) is going to be a (very) Mature game - a game made by adults for adults. I'm happy... :)

(and these days that's nearly all that's going to make my happy ;) )

Not really, its only a precaution since the rating hasnt been judged yet..

are you obligated by law to have that restriction on sites that is about a game that has a 16 year rating?.. only tough that applied for porno sites...

Now that I think about it, it's a PR move.
Think about it - it's drumming up interest. Even if F3 doesn't have much in the way of mature content.. well.. it's not like Bethesda ever actually promised anything, did they?
