Not sure if this is the right place (so please move if you don't think so)

But there seem to be a number of banner advertisements for demos. In the past there was a sci-fi role playing game and recently there is an Allied Assault demo.

Has anyone tried these?

I was interested in the Allied Assaut demo but it was multiplayer, so I went and downloaded the single player demo from the original game. Not bad, lead a small squad to destroy a set of nebelwerfers outside a village in Normandy. The game play is not much better than some of the military first person shooters (I am thinking of Rangers Lead the Way) but the interaction is fun. The tracer bullets and sound, very Saving Private Ryan.

Medal of Honour: Allied Assault, the debate goes on. I played the demo and enjoyed it: the fast-paced action, the bullets singing around me, the well-designed level. Then I bought the full game.

The levels are as linear as a flat rollercoaster, the Germans hiding in the wardrobes are an annoyance rather than a bit of interesting scripting since you cannot shoot through the wardrobe doors when they're closed, and Snipertown is downright awful. As for replayability, look elsewhere. The element of surprise is also surprisingly lacking. Interaction with fellow soldiers is inexistant, they proceed at their own pace so you don't actually 'lead' them.

The famous Omaha Beach Landing is very hard, but it's probably the most immersive level in the whole game: it's the only level where I kept thinking "I've got to move up that beach, after the next artillery barrage I'll go, s**t I don't want to die."

The weapons have very good models and sounds -way better than Battlefield 1942- and the music is nice (I love the smooth swing of the Credits music).

So when are we going to get a take-over ad for Fallout 3? That'll be a happy day!

Uh, the three newest games that I own are Civ III, GTA III and Black & White. Everytime I see a game ad these days it means nothing to me because I don't have the urge to buy them anymore.

Agreed.

and Snipertown is downright awful.

I loved snipertown. It reminded me of "enemy at the gates", one of my favorite movies. Same atmosphere.

Overall i consider it to be a great game. I especially like how every mission is different, scenary wise. It never feels redundant.

There's barely any advertisement for games on T.V here. So far this month i've seen firewarrior ad's about 3 times a week and a gamecube ad every so often. Why arn't the good games being advertised!

Personnaly i think that a take-over ad featuring fallout: BOS and/or Fallout: Online would be much much funnier.

To answer Welsh's question no i haven't
