Afterfall concept art

The concept art leaves a lot to be expected. I ,personally, love the second image which is "the throne". I think the people at Afterfall have brought post apoc to a whole new level, concept-wise at the very least.

I can't wait til a demo comes out.

sweet! though I'm a bit confused about the style of the game and were it is going these pieces are worth an applaude by themselves. And even though it is a classical motive I love the last one!

I appreciate the attempt but if this game is going to be a commercial success, hire an artist.

Dude, the quality of this concept art is undisputed. I understand where are you coming from tough...with all the digital renders from your 360 games.

I bet you think Frank Miller sucks.

A chainsaw-spear. Now THAT's original.

And yet so impractical

The artwork looks more like fanart than real concept art. It's like some friend of the programmers drew this.

But I like the robot though

Yeah, it's kind of hard to relate this to conceptual art. The artwork doesn't really seem to be working on expanding any concepts or ideas for use in the game. Looks more like fan or promotional art.

I don't think it was ment to be practical. The guy seems to want to feel like a king and so he's got a jester, a throne and the chainsaw which is his scepter.
I have no idea if the character is going to be in game but he is not a rational person and doesn't need to be practical.

Something more disturbing is that the different arts from different artists really differ in atmosphere. Probably such arts are made for every game but it's not often you see them, just like of Fallout 3 we have seen just a few concepts prepared directly for showing to the public. I wonder how will it all look like put in one game.
Still, looking at what really has been done for showing (the AF's comics f.e.) I think the atmosphere will be consistent.

Nice artwork. I'm really waiting for this one. I just hope it doesn't fail because of all the reasons most non-100%-pro games fail nowadays (especially lack of money, balance/bugs in the final game are a concern to me). If even only half of the stuff mentioned in the FAQ will actually make it into the final product I will be happy.

this is not really a concept art. artworks like these are supposed to share feelings about atmosphere and ideas of their authors.
sometimes we use them, sometimes they just inspire us to create something different and sometimes we do not use them at all.
while working on design of locations we are trying to stick to one general style everywhere, despite different personal preferences of each concept artist in team.

Nononononno, ou sould've gone:

"This is promo! This is fan art!"
"Fan art? THIS IS CONCEEEEPT AAAAAAAART!!!!!!!" ;)

You guys really need to find someone who could make some really Quality artworks, if you want to advertise your project using them. These ones are looking more or less like mid-quality fan-art - and so it should be titled, though.
I know that you started from the scratch yourselves and don't want to separate from those who are still learning and gaining skills ( and it's the thing I really anticipate and appreciate about the project ), but they shouldn't be those who make public teaser artworks! ( unless they already gained the Skills, of course - some of them did )

I have seen that you have some newly-hired and already skilled 3d modelers, I don't quite understand why you can't hire equally skilled artworker.

On the topic:
I kind of like the artwork made by Grzegorz Przybys, and I'm really impressed that the last one is made by Krezel (he made incredible progress to me, I would have never assume that he would do such different and really artistically interesting thing. Awesome! )

And the conceptart intoxicate posted a while ago is one of the most interesting 2d picture related to Afterfall I have ever seen. It's a shame that we can't see things like that more frequent.
(and please, fix the typo on it)

We cant *hire*, we are working for free Man, investing our time to this game. All you se is done in home, for free. We have no money to hire expedienced artist.

Didn't know that.
So in this case word "acquired" would be better than "hired".

But you promise them the money after it's all done and game's success, aren't you?

There are tons of people who love to draw post apoc and mutant stuff out there. I guess you just have missed the really skilled people by not getting to "hardcore" concept art communities and such.

Or you have made a poor\mediocre presentation of your project, that will also scare people away.
