Aimed shots.

A.I.S

First time out of the vault
Sorry all, but I got a fairly retarded question (bought a used copy of FO2, no manual).
How exactly do you make aimed shots?
I'm already in NCR, thought Living Anatomy would do it (missed it the first time around b/c of doctor skill), but that's not it.
My guy is Small body + Gifted, so I should be able to make aimed shots to eyes/etc, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it.
What are requirements for aimed shots, is it a special perk, or is it just a cursor style that I'm missing?
TIA.

Just right click on your active weapon slot. I take it you know how to reload... it's the same action. Anyhoo, after right clicking on the slot, you should see a small targeting reticule thingy in, I think, the lower right corner. Now you'll have a targeted shot.

Is it a know bug that this sometimes not work?
Because I have right clicked like crazy, still I cannot aim. This is the same with all weapons (rifle, gun, spear). I right click and nothing happens.

You have taken the Fast Shot trait, or your mouse button is broken.

I have taken the Fast Shot trait -_-
I did not know this would have impact on aiming. I thought FS was good to have in the beginning of the game. So my aiming is gone for the rest of the game? Cant get it back?

Well, you *could* have read the friggin' description, haven't you?

Yes, Fast Shot prohibits aimed shots throughout the game. The only way to undo it would be to use the Mutate! perk to change Fast Shot into something else.

Another strategy is using Mutate to change another trait (e.g. Finesse) into Fast Shot on Level 27, after you get Sniper.

Aimed shots count towards increased chance of critical damage, so you might try to compensate for that by using powerful, fast firing weapons (like Gatling lasers)

Don't worry just because you got the fast shot trait! It's a cool trait, IU use it all the time, i also have low perception. Get yourself a gatling laser, bozar or vindicator and you'r kicking ass

And there I was thinking, he couldn't have taken the Fast Shot trait, since after all he wrote:

Triple-trait strategy working out all right?

Wah, wah, wah? Using a character editor, are we?

Far as I knew, you can't do that even with editors. I've used several in efforts to test things on the fly while I modify all sorts of scripts, but I don't think the character file (or game engine) even allows for 3 traits. There's just no extra space to tell it the third one and the engine wouldn't know what it was reading if you put it outside where it belongs.

I could be wrong, but I don't think so. :)

Aha! But that means the first guy's mystary is still unsolved!

It is. His IN was too low.

Per, have you been getting much sleep lately? (j/k)

Mystery is solved.

I'm just an idiot. It's not small frame+gifted, it's fast shot+gifted. Then again...never had an official guide or anything, kinda going by the seat of my pants.

well that's the right way to go. it's much more fun to experiment for your self.

Possible aimed/percise hits?

Hey there! I have a question that's troubling me greatly- I haven't played Fallout 2 in 3-4 years, but last week I reinstalled it when I reformatted my computer, got up to the Military Base with the mutants, and am now remembering how I beat them- aimed shots. How does one attain the ability to choose and pick what part of the body they can shoot? Any particular skills or levels required? I believe my STR is 6, Perception 6, Agility 7, Int 6... And i'm contemplating taking the 'mutate' Perk and changing my 'one shot' to gifted to up them, will that help? Thanks!

Right-click your weapon on the main screen to change targeting mode. Don't have Fast Shot. This should be, like, in the manual.
